REBELLING AGAINST HASTE All the beauty of a slower life Is a more leisurely tempo of life a response to stress or just yet another unachievable aim that the privileged brag about? In a world in which success is defined by rushing constantly, the concept of slowing down appears almost subversive W e must do more, achieve more, be more efficient, more successful... And the result? Chronic fatigue, anxiety and exhaus- tion that can’t be cured by any produc- tivity app or self-care routine. That’s why you should prescribe your own medicine – a slowdown. Slower living isn’t about abandon- ing ambition – it’s a redefining of suc- cess. At the core of this movement is the notion of living with more inten- tion, being present and truly enjoy- ing the moment. This doesn’t mean that we should do everything slow- ly, rather that we should question why we’ve accepted a state of constant hus- tle and bustle as the only way of life. Why must meals be rushed? Why do weekends have to be filled with obliga-

tions? Why do we consider exhaustion as proof of living a full life? The slow living movement is rooted in the slow food revolution of the 1980s, which emerged in response to the ex- pansion of industrial food production and fast food. However, the philoso- phy of slow living today encompass- es much more – extending to work, relationships, consumer habits and even travel. It’s all about enjoying our- selves, rather than merely spending; it’s about quality rather than quanti- ty, depth as opposed to speed. Slow- ing down means resisting this pres- sure. And the Italians might just know how to do it best. Dolce far niente can be loosely translated as “pleasant idle- ness”, and implies more than “you don’t have to do anything”. It’s an op- portunity to achieve clarity of mind by allowing calmness to wash over you.

Of course, living slowly is indeed a privilege. Not everyone can afford to refuse overtime or spend the after- noon tending to a garden. Howev- er, small instances of slowing down can prove revolutionary even with- in the confines of modern life – such as disabling tech notifications, go- ing for a walk with no goal in mind, preparing a meal from scratch, read- ing for pure enjoyment as opposed to productivity. These aren’t trivial luxu- ries – they’re acts of self-preservation in a world that constantly demands more. The paradox is that, when we slow down, we will perhaps finally find what we've been chasing all along. Cre- ativity flourishes in silence. Relation- ships deepen when we devote time to them. And life, in all its fleeting beau- ty, becomes something that we truly experience...

Koncept sporog života suprotstavlja se pravilima modernog društva, fokusirajući se na proživljavanje života što bolje, a ne što brže The concept of slow living defies the rules of modern society, focusing on living life as best as possible, not as fast as possible
