Ovog septembra slavimo našu prelepu Srbiju i njena blaga koja možete osetiti čulima, ali možda najviše – dušom

We’re celebrating our beautiful Serbia and its treasures this September – treasures that you can experience with all your senses, but perhaps most of all with your soul

IN THE RHYTHM OF GRAPES & WINE W ith summer slow- ly waning and golden autumnal tones col- ouring the landscapes of Serbia, vineyards nationwide enter their most hallowed pe- riod: the grape harvest. September in Ser- bia isn’t only the right time for long coun- try walks, but also for exploring wine routes that bring together nature, tradition and taste in an unforgettable experience. One of Serbia’s most famous wine re- gions is Župa, encompassing the area around Aleksandrovac, where vines have been cultivated for centuries. Numer- ous family wineries in this region, which is also dubbed the Serbian Tuscany, offer visitors cellar tours, wine tastings and stories that convey the spirit of this re- gion. The greatest source of local viticul- ture pride is the autochthonous Proku- pac variety, which is experiencing its renaissance on the local wine scene. In the country’s north, in Fruška Go- ra’s cooler climate, grape vines thrive

on gentle slopes overlooking the Danube. Wines are pro- duced here under the influ- ence of a specific microcli- mate, with the most famous being whites like Grašac, Sau- vignon and Riesling. Organ- ised wine houses and monas- tery cellars ensure this route is ideal for daytrips from Novi Sad or Belgrade. We also shouldn’t overlook Vršac, home to one of the country’s oldest winegrow- ing regions. This city was al-

the traditional way. Here you can try the local Bagrina grape variety that thrives exclusively in this area. September is a time when wine isn’t merely consumed – rather it is experi- enced. Many regions of Serbia organise wine evenings, harvest days and wine dinners with live music, local speciali- ties and winemakers’ stories. Wheth- er you’re a lover of reds, whites or spar- kling wines, Serbia’s wine routes invite you to journey through unforgettable landscapes and tastes.

For those seeking authenticity, eastern Serbia’s Negotin Frontier represents the right choice. This gem hides so-called ‘pimnice’, representing seasonal stone wine cellars dating back to the 19 th cen- tury that are still used to produce wine in

ready a wine trade hub during the peri- od of Habsburg rule, and that tradition is preserved by today’s wineries, through modern production methods and wine tourism.
