It was on Sunday, April 9, at 9 a.m., that the Russell Warriors Peewee B1 took on the Or- leans Rush BI at the Earl Armstrong Arena. A minute of silence was observed for coach Phil Marchessault, who had unex- pectedly passed away onThursday, April 6, 2017. His son KeiranMarchessault plays for Russell. All players for Russell wore a ‘Coach Phil’ sticker on their helmet. Scoring started with 4:56 left in the first period, when KeiranMarchessault accepted a pass fromSebastien Pettis, giving Russell a 1-0 lead. James Rawlings got the insurance goal with 9:39 left in the second period. When asked about the game, coach Paul
Gaudreault had this to say: “What an unbe- lievable way to end an incredible season. The players deserve all the credit for this great season. The players were so pleased to have the unexpected presence of Keiran Marchessault for the game. Keiran brings somuch intensity and energy to each game and has a huge influence on his teammates.” “In the dressing room before the game, when I thought themotivation level was at its maximum,” he continued, “Jason Lachance stood up in front of his teammates and asked everyone to get the win for Keiran and his family. At that point, the motivation level went through the roof.”
