Foodland’s new store is up and running in Russell!

customers to an enjoyable experience. The former store operated with 25 em- ployees in a 5,000 sq. ft. facility. The new store, which will be opened 24/7, is now manned by 160 people, many of which were hired following a job fair held in January. Several dignitaries attended a pre-open- ing event on Friday morning, including MP Francis Drouin, mayor Pierre Leroux, councilors Cindy Saucier, Jamie Laurin and André Brisson, and Cindy Cameron, VP of operation at Sobeys. They were greeted by store owner Karine Boucher. Boucher took the opportunity to present a $1000 donation to the local food bank.
Russell Foodland’s new store is up and running. When the doors officially opened on Friday, April 7, many customers were waiting in line to come and enjoy this new 32,000 sq. ft. store, with an extensive health andwellness section, a variety of fresh pro- duce and yes, even beer, wine and cider. Other highlights of the new Foodland include a natural solution center, an organic produce section, a deli, a spacious kitchen and an instore sushi chef. Avant que les cultivateurs de la région ne prennent les champs, plus d’une trentaine de tracteurs ont reçu la bénédiction, dimanche dernier, du curé Pascal Nizigiyimana. En plus du soleil qui était au rendez-vous, le 9 avril était une journée spéciale, puisqu’on célébrait également le dimanche des Rameaux. Organisée par les Chevaliers de Colomb, c’est la troisième année que la bénédiction des tracteurs est donnée à Saint-Isidore. Avant la cérémonie, des tracteurs venus de la région environnante ont défilé dans les rues de Saint-Isidore. À l’instar des motos et des bateaux avant leur départ, la bénédiction sert à protéger les conducteurs et à leur souhaiter une saison prospère. —photo Vicky Charbonneau
