Kurt Anderson ABOUT: My work is a mixture of exposure to art that has gone before me. I retain bits and pieces of the styles and techniques that strike a chord with me, add my life experiences and emotions, and when blended together, guide my brush on canvas. In 1995, while in the midst of a full-time career as a surgical PA, raising a family, and running an organic farm (who needs sleep?), Kurt set sail on a self-guided journey to rekindle his creative spirit through painting and has never looked back. He retired from the Physician Assistant profession in 2016 and has been happily painting full-time ever since. An outdoor lover, he naturally gravitated to plein air painting which pairs two of his favorite activities. Kurt has received training from Mark Boedges, Marc Hanson, Timothy Horn, Shelby Keefe, Elizabeth Pollie, Caesar Citraro, and Alan Maciag. THIS YEAR: The silver lining in the Covid Pandemic for me has been the permission to slow down and count our blessings. GALLERIES: Mackinac’s Little Gallery, Mackinac Island, MI; Synchronicity Gallery, Glen Arbor, MI; Somebody’s Gallery, Petoskey, MI; Crooked Tree Art Center, Petoskey, MI; Three Pines Studio, Harbor Springs, MI; North Wind Studio, Harbor Springs, MI CONTACT: Website.

“Brave New World,” Oil on gallery wrap canvas (unframed), 2020, 24 x 24 in, $1500. This concept piece speaks to the impact artificial intelligence is having on our society via social media. Algorithms now curate our view of the world, creating an “us vs. them” mentality. Sound familiar? Just be aware and think for yourself.
