LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM – EXCURSIONS AND INCURSIONS
Welcome back to Term 2! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break and are ready for another exciting and productive Term of learning ahead. We are thrilled to continue building on the momentum of Term 1, with a range of opportunities for learning, growth, and connection.
Term 2 is packed with a rich variety of excursions and incursions that support and extend the teaching and learning programs across all year levels. These experiences are designed to provide real - world connections to the curriculum and build critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. Families are reminded to regularly check Compass for details of upcoming events. One of the highlights this Term will be the participation of a select group of students in the Model United Nations Assembly, an exciting simulation of the UN General Assembly. This event is run by the United Nations Association Australia (Victoria Division) (UNAAV), and follows official UN protocols and procedures. As Assembly delegates, our students will step into the role of UN ambassadors, representing different countries and debating key global issues. They will be challenged to negotiate, collaborate, and find solutions to the problems on the UN ’ s current agenda. This unique opportunity fosters global citizenship, critical thinking, and public speaking, and we are incredibly proud to support our students in such an enriching program.
CURRICULUM PLANNING FOR 2026 – SUBJECT SELECTION BEGINS
We are pleased to announce that our Curriculum Handbook will become available to students and families this Term. This important resource will support Years 8 - 11 students in selecting their subjects for the 2026 school year. Subject selection is an exciting time that allows students to begin shaping their educational journey in alignment with their interests, goals, and future aspirations. Students will be supported through information sessions and course counselling to ensure they make informed decisions. We encourage families to have open conversations at home about pathways, career ideas, and the subjects that spark curiosity and motivation. Staff are always available to answer questions and provide advice as we work together to support our students' success. YEAR 12 SUBJECTS: GAT AND END - OF - SEMESTER EXAMS A reminder for all students completing a Year 12 subject that they will sit the General Achievement Test (GAT) later this Term. The GAT is an essential part of the VCE assessment structure and provides important data about student achievement across a broad range of skills. Additionally, students in Years 10 to 12 will complete end - of - semester exams in various subjects. These exams help develop important study and revision habits and prepare students for the expectations of senior secondary and tertiary study. Teachers will guide students through revision strategies, exam techniques, and ways to manage time and wellbeing during the assessment period.
YEAR 7 CAMP – ADVENTURE AND LEADERSHIP
Another exciting event on the calendar is the Year 7 Camp, which promises to be a fun and memorable experience for our newest secondary students. The camp is a wonderful opportunity for Year 7s to build new friendships, challenge themselves, and develop independence in a safe and supportive environment. What makes this year ’ s camp extra special is the involvement of our Year 9 and 10 student leaders, who will attend as peer mentors and role models. These leaders have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their school community and will be supporting camp activities, team building, and student wellbeing throughout the experience.
