King's Business - 1950-05

He is out to prevent others from ob taining any benefits whatever. His de sire is that others lose what they have to him. The gambler has no interest in the uplift of morals nor in any Chris tian matter. God’s Command About Gambling Ex. 20:15 Gambling is stealing. The person who loses does not want to lose. The gam bler who wins very cleverly takes from his opponent all that he can get, all that he can win.- He hopes that he may take from his opponent the wealth, the valu ables, and the riches which he has. This is stealing. The robber of a bank seeks to outwit the officers. He learns the combination of locks and takes away the money. The gambler does no less. He learns to trick his opponent and take away what he has. He is a thief. God’s Decision About Gambling Isa. 30:12,13 Thieves have no place in the kingdom of God. We see this very plainly right here on earth. Gamblers have no inter est in Christian matters. They do not mingle with the people of God nor do they care for the Word of God. They live a godless life. God shuts them out of His program. They have no part nor lot in God’s Heaven nor in God’s church. They are a curse to society and utter strangers to God’s grace. God will pun ish them. Since they want no God, He will see to it that they go to a Christ- less grave and a Christless eternity. God’s Plan About Gamblers Mai. 3:5 God’s program does not include ob taining funds by gambling devices such as bingo, bridge, lottery, et cetera. God seeks the freewill offerings from the hearts of those who have been saved by His grace. He wants His children to bring to Him funds which they obtain in honest enterprises and by godly means. Offerings obtained by stealing are not acceptable to God. God has given honest work for necessary uses and the laborer is worthy of his hire. Gamblers are not laborers; they are deceivers. Gamblers earn nothing. They obtain their income fraudulently. God does not countenance such evil gain. June 25, 1950 WHO MAKES UP YOUR MIND? Prov. 16:32; 20:1; 21:17; 23:29-35; Dan. 1:8; Rom. 14:21 All of us are affected by others. Our thinking is largely influenced by the company we keep and the books, maga zines, and papers that we read. We are bom into this world with no knowledge o f anything. As soon as the mind begins to develop, we learn from others. In the Catholic faith, the priest makes up the mind of all the members. They do not think for themselves about religious matters.
