GOING THE EXTRA MILE FOR CLIENTS Scott Perlmuter Is Standing Up for Justice
WE TAKE ALL OUR CASES TO HEART AND WORK AROUND THE CLOCK TO ENSURE OUR CLIENTS ARE CARED FOR.
I’ve always been interested in civil rights issues, and it’s been a driving factor in my career for as long as I can remember. My grandparents were Holocaust survivors, and my parents instilled a sense of social justice in me during my childhood. In our household, there was always a strong sense of ensuring marginalized people in society have representation, a voice, and someone to protect them. I watched this come into practice through my father, who was an attorney. I had an immense amount of respect for him, his intellect, and his ability to protect others through his work. This combination of a passion for social justice, admiration for my father, and the unwavering support of my parents pushed me toward becoming a lawyer. And after I finished high school, I pursued my interest at the University of Wisconsin and majored in political science. Immediately after graduation, I attended law school, passed the bar, and got involved in civil rights work. I started working with an attorney named David Malik, whose firm only handled civil rights-related cases. With David, I witnessed a lot of interesting cases and learned how to be a great plaintiff lawyer by working alongside him. I saw that to represent a client best, you have to be smart, and you have to be creative. After working with and learning from David for a few years, I began working for a personal injury law firm and was surprised by just how much I enjoyed the practice area. I quickly realized that personal injury and civil rights cases had a lot in common; they gave people who were wronged a
voice, protection, and representation. Personal injury and civil rights cases are about standing up for those in need. The same aspects that excite me about a police brutality case excite me in a personal injury case. I met Allen Tittle at that personal injury law firm, and we quickly became friends. So, when the firm split up, and Allen went with one partner, and I went with the other, we stayed in contact. Sometimes, we would meet up for lunch or catch up on the phone, and we’d always talk about starting our own firm — one where we could protect the underdogs and go above and beyond for our clients like we always wanted.
Today, our success at Tittle and Perlmuter comes from nothing other than hard work. We take all our cases to heart and work around the clock to ensure our clients are cared for. In fact, it’s not unusual that I take calls from clients after putting my kids to sleep or on a Friday night after hours. Our job isn’t just to be people’s personal injury attorneys but to look out for them during some of the most stressful moments of their lives. Being someone who stands up for, and with, people who have suffered an injury is also rewarding. The fact that I can help make a terrible situation just a little bit easier for someone is why I take those late-night calls and wake up every day excited about what I do — so much so that it’s really all I do. Even when I’m not at work, I’m usually working in some capacity. In the rare instances that I have some time off, I spend it with my family. My oldest daughter loves to rock climb, so we love to do that together when possible. I also enjoy woodworking and sometimes bring the things I build into the office when I finish them! But most of all, I enjoy standing up for the people who deserve justice. I’m honored to fight for and protect the individuals in our Cleveland community!
I’ve always been a bit more cautious with significant decisions, so when Allen finally left and started his own firm, I didn’t immediately join him; it took some strategizing, pushing, and convincing. But ultimately, I knew no one works harder for their clients than Allen and me, and joining him to create the Tittle and Perlmuter law firm was the right decision.

Learn more about how these young leaders are making a positive difference in our community!
OWEN HOBBS Owen is an Eagle Scout and conducted his Eagle project for his former grade school in Avon, Ohio. He built and provided seating for a brand- new outdoor classroom, and the area has been widely used for students between the ages of preschool to eighth grade. In addition to his community involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, Owen was one of 40 students in his class out of 350 classmates to be inducted into the National Honor Society. Through this organization, Owen has worked with the Big Brother Program, where he mentors 17 freshman students and assists them in adapting to and ultimately succeeding in their social lives, academic development, and commitment to community values. He was a counselor for the Arrupe Summer Program and counseled a group of 11 3rd–7th graders throughout the summer months.
MALLORY MACKAY Mallory Mackay was awarded a grant by the USA Swimming Foundation to offer free swim lessons to underserved communities. She helped teach these lessons at the Brooklyn Recreation Center on Saturdays starting in 2021 until now. Mallory recently represented Avon High School as a Senior at the OHSAA State Championships Swim Meet, and she has committed to continue her academics and athletics at Old Dominion University. DARION HARMON Darion has been a consistent leader to his underclassmen this year. Throughout the summer, he helped incoming ninth graders acclimate to the school community. Now, during the school year, he continues to mentor different ninth-grade male students. He encourages them to keep up their grades, helps them work through various social issues, and continues to guide and support them in whatever ways they need. He does all of this while maintaining solid grades, working 30-plus hours outside of school, and continuing to hold leadership positions in student council, Ambassadors, and other school groups.
Congratulations, Mallory, Darion, and Owen; we can't wait to see what you'll continue to accomplish in the future!

GET TO KNOW MARY KRAUS Our Newest Pre-Litigation Paralegal
Our team at Tittle & Perlmuter is excited to welcome our new pre- litigation paralegal, Mary Kraus, to the firm!
Mary moved back to Cleveland after living in Columbus, where she began working as a paralegal at a personal injury and civil rights law firm. There, Mary discovered her love for the personal injury practice field by helping people navigate some of the most challenging times of their lives. For her, the fact that she could make someone's life a little easier with her help made the job incredibly rewarding. Mary stayed with that firm for almost eight years and loved every moment of it. But eventually, she knew she was ready for a change and wanted to expand her professional horizons. Mary had been following the Tittle & Perlmuter LinkedIn page before she started looking for jobs and said she always liked the content we posted there. So, when she began considering other job options, Mary checked out our page and saw we were hiring a pre-litigation paralegal. She applied, and the rest is Tittle & Perlmuter history! Mary's role as a pre-litigation paralegal is to guide our clients from start to finish of the legal process. She'll be a constant source of information for our cases and the primary source of communication between our firm and our clients. But more than anything, Mary is here to ensure you always feel comfortable and supported as well as answer questions throughout process. According to Mary, she loves doing nothing more than helping clients navigate their case step by step. When she's not supporting clients, Mary loves to spend time with her family. She also loves soccer and plays in an adult league in town, on top of coaching youth soccer at local schools. For Mary, it's about giving back to the community through the sport she loves, and she's been coaching for over 10 years! In the spring, she and her husband also play in a coed softball league, and in the summer, it's all about kickball.

4. Putting Together a Self-Care Routine
FIND MORE ‘YOU’ TIME Developing a Self-Care Routine Life isn't always easy — when juggling a career, family, children, social obligations, and housework, finding time for yourself can be difficult. Studies show that roughly 59% of individuals only make time for self-care after they’ve become stressed out. Here are some ways to develop a healthy routine that suits your busy life.
MAKE TIME FOR HOBBIES. Most people find themselves constantly juggling countless tasks and obligations. With so much to do, making time for your least favorite activities likely won’t happen; instead, do something you enjoy. After all, self-care is about you! Yoga, reading, journaling, jogging, and meditating are just a few ways to get in some “you time.” If you like it, do it!
BECOME INTENTIONAL. When developing a self-care ritual, it’s essential to identify your reasons behind taking better care of yourself and to pinpoint your needs. With a clear vision and motive behind your efforts, developing healthy habits to nurture and incorporate into your everyday routine becomes easier. CREATE LARGE AND SMALL SELF-CARE OPTIONS. You don’t need to do the same self-care ritual all the time, but make it a point to do something for yourself every day. On busier days, you may only have a moment to take a few deep breaths and mentally reset, but on other days, you may have time for a relaxing bath, massage, workout, or pedicure.
PLAN YOUR SELF-CARE TIME. Without adding self-care to your schedule, your healthy behaviors may get placed on the back burner. Block off time for your favorite activities. Once it's on your calendar, you're more likely to work a routine into your day. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Complex rituals may create more stress or anxiety when you should be relaxing. Instead, keep it simple by focusing on relaxing, breathing,
and recharging. Go for a walk in the park, take a nap, get a massage, stretch, or take a few moments to do absolutely nothing. Simplicity is the key.
