DAYS 1–2 Start in Venice, a labyrinth of meandering canals and dazzling old-world monuments • A resident takes us strolling through the district of Dorsoduro • Get hands-on with Venetian artistry as you create your own carnival mask • Set sail for Croatia, where the pastel-colored fishing town of Rovinj awaits • Countryside and villages set the scene on the Istrian Peninsula. DAYS 3–4 Take to the trails of Krka National Park to see the area’s vistas of waterfalls and electric-blue lakes • Bike through the rugged Dalmatian hinterland of rocky gorges and pine forests • Let yourself be surprised as every turn reveals cozy mountain huts and remote villages where time moves at a different pace • Drop anchor in lively Trogir, whose World Heritage old city on a fortified island is an ornate treasure trove of Venetian architecture.
