Winter Crafts Workshop • AGES 4 AND UP Get ready for the holidays! While you sip hot cocoa, make nature-themed crafts for your friends and family. To wrap your gifts, design your own wrapping paper using our rubber stamps and stickers on recycled paper or paper bags. Price is per person. All adults and children attending must be registered. This will be a slow (less than 1 mile) mindful walk connecting to nature through your senses. The walk will conclude with a tea ceremony made from organic tea plants from the therapist’s garden. The walk is held entirely outdoors. Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Meets on the nature center deck. Support for this program provided by the DuPage Foundation. Class work will explore tools, evergreen identification, shape, use of textures, floral care and personalization ideas. Design will include fresh evergreens, pinecones, other natural items, seasonal trim and ribbons. All supplies, including tools, are provided but you may bring and add personal touches. This hike is for up to four family members; please register only one member of your family. No pets please. Bring a water bottle and wear sturdy walking shoes. Meets on the nature center deck. Your family will get to watch as the tree grows over the years! This is a great program for kids, families, and adults who love nature. Instruction will be provided for participants on how trees grow and how to plant and care for the tree they will receive. Program is free but you must register. Register only one member of your family; at least one adult must attend per family. One tree will be given to each household. Kits include: Information/instruction sheets, coloring pages and/or scavengers hunts, supplies for crafts and materials/instructions for a game or two. TERRIFIC TURKEYS KIT: It’s time to talk turkey! Use our Terrific Turkeys Kit to learn more about our local wild turkeys. This kit is designed for families with up to 4 children. Take home kit includes: Background information, book list, coloring/activity sheet, materials for four (4) turkey crafts plus two turkey related activities/games. Items not included: crayons or markers, scissors, and tape. Additional craft materials available for an extra fee. Please note: An email confirmation will be sent when your kit is ready to pick up. Research shows how important spending time outside is for a child’s physical, social and mental development. Join a naturalist for a fall multi-week session. Each themed, but unstructured, nature playtime takes place completely outdoors rain or shine so dress for the weather. Please note: Your child may get wet and dirty - it’s part of the fun!
