The Gatehouse 1 Victoria Square Victoria Street St Albans AL1 3TF stalbans.registrars@hertfordshire.gov.uk The Gatehouse was originally the governor’s residence of a Victorian prison and is a unique setting for any ceremony. The ceremony room is situated on the ground floor and has been furnished with bespoke furniture to reflect the building’s historic character. The maximum number of guests permitted is 60. The Gatehouse is surrounded by beautiful gardens which feature a striking 1840 siege cannon. The original prison doors and walls, which have featured in many television and film productions, provide a picturesque and unusual backdrop for photographs. There is a CD player and a Bluetooth speaker available for music. Live music can also be accommodated and your photographer or videographer can be present during the ceremony. There is unlimited parking at the weekends but a restricted permit parking only scheme operates during the week (permits are available from registration staff). There is also public parking a short walk away. There is disabled access.
