Outside ceremonies Many couples dream of having their wedding outside, and we have a number of approved venues that are able to offer beautiful outside structures in which the legal marriage or civil partnership ceremony can take place. These outdoor locations are situated in beautiful gardens, by lakes or even pretty woodland. Since April 2022, legal marriage and civil partnership ceremonies are able to take place in an approved outdoor space of one of our venues. These changes apply only to approved venues and cannot be applied to religious premises or other outdoor areas. Please speak to your chosen approved venue for further details. Please remember that it may not always be possible to hold the ceremony outside due to inclement weather, which may include rain, wind or even extremely hot and sunny conditions with no shade. It will be necessary to have an inside option just in case.
The Registrars will have the final decision on the day taking into consideration the safety and wellbeing of you and your guests.
