showed them His pierced hands and side, and they rejoiced because He was living and was with them again. They all believed except Thomas, who was not with them at this time. One day Thomas, too, saw the Lord and believed, and knew that the Saviour who had died was alive again. Our Lord had told these friends that He would see them in Galilee. They journeyed to this part of Pales tine, and there our risen Lord met them and talked with them, and with a large group of about five hundred other people, besides. At another time, after some of His friends had fished all night and had caught nothing, the living Lord Jesus appeared to them and told them where they would be able to catch fish. In the meantime, He had pre pared food for them, and when they reached the land, served them and ate with them there on the seashore. This is the time He said to Peter words that meant, “ If you love me, you will feed My lambs.” And thus it was that they returned to the great city of Jerusalem and went right on serving, feeding His lambs. The days were not then sad and lonely, for they had a living Saviour, who came to them many times during the forty days after His resurrection. How they must have looked forward to these times of see ing Him and talking with Him! But finally the time came for the Lord (Concluded on next page)
empty. The Lord was not there. And in the evening of this very same day, when the friends of Christ were gathered together, the Lord About The Author Mrs. Anna M . Dennis was one of the first writers for boys and girls in The King’s Business magazine. She wrote the Bible stories for children in the Beginner’s Department in the first years in the history of The King’s Business. For many years she was a member of the faculty of the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, greatly esteemed by Dr. R. A. Torrey, and beloved by all of her students. Many in the Lord’s service today thank the Lord, for her faithful ministry of the Word. She not only knew how to teach the Word, but knew how to live the mes sage she taught. Today she resides with her beloved daughter and son-in-law in Glendale, California, a blessing to all who come in contact with her. She is the teacher of a large Sunday School class in the Church of the Open Door known as the Mother’s Class. Small groups who are hungry for a deeper study of the Word meet in her home for instruction. So the Lord continues to bless and to use this faithful servant. May He add years to her life of use fulness for Himself! Jesus Himself came into the room, though the doors were locked. He stood there among them and said: “ Peace be unto you.” Then Hie
L o n g a g o , when our Lord Jesus was here upon this earth, there was a group of men who loved Him so much that they left their homes and their families and all that they had, to go with Him wherever He went. These men were called disciples of the Lord Jesus. He taught them, and then He sent them forth to different places to serve Him. They showed their love for Him by doing, day by day, the things that pleased Him. Near the end of His life here upon earth, the Lord Jesus told these friends that some day He would be going away. The thought of having Him leave them must have made them very sad; but He said that it would be better for them if He went. They did not understand at that time just what He meant, but they learned afterwards. We. all know that the time finally came when the Lord Jesus suffered and died on the cross and was laid in a tomb in Joseph’s garden. How unhappy His disciple friends were that day as they left His body there in the dark tomb and went back to their homes! The days must have seemed very long and sad. The upper room where they had last met with Him seemed empty without Him. Then, after three days, the friends of our Lord Jesus heard wonderful news. He was no longer dead, but living! Mary had seen Him! Peter and John were the first of the dis ciples to run to the tomb and find it
