What we provide The StarQuest program provides classroom discussions and small group activities geared to stimulate positive peer interaction. One of the interactive educational activities that is used involves role playing. During the role plays the youth act and develop skills to manage con ict nonviolently to help ensure personal safety. A unique component of the StarQuest program involves teaching youth about basic laws and the importance of following rules. This helps young people to realize that the decisions that they make while they are young can follow them throughout their adult lives. The StarQuest program activities strive to prevent youth from participating in disruptive or disturbing classroom behaviors. The immediate goal is for youth to increase their knowledge and decision making skills in order to produce positive attitudinal and behavior changes. With this process the intermediate goal seeks to have youth adopt the educational information and self- conduct training to produce a mindset of positive change. The ultimate goal is to create permanent conduct change. The StarQuest program provides safe, drug-free, supervised activities for the youth. The program is facilitated by trained, credentialed prevention and youth intervention specialists who hav experience working with at-risk populations.
