Construc,on began in April 2019 and had an original an,cipated comple,on date of 2021. The project experienced an unexpected delay, and the hotel ul,mately opened to guests in March 2022. The Star Wars: Galac,c Starcruiser project delivered a 100-room, three level interac,ve hotel.
The project included approximately 100,000 square feet of new construc,on, consis,ng of a themed hotel with an engineering room, dojo (light saber training), courtyard, table service restaurant, lobby, lounge, and bridge, with each area providing their own theming and interac,ve experience. Approximately 350,000 sq J of conduit, 150,00 sq J of MC cable, and 1,450,000 sq J of wire were in- stalled, all of which required close coordina,on between all the MEP trades and Walt Disney Imagineer- ing.
Similar to W Hotel in concept but not design. This project was a large project using the IDP contract deliv- ery method. Tri-City was included in preconstruc,on –to development and construc,on– and finally to guest occupancy.
