If you will amend your ways; if you will confess your sins. I believe that today America is in trouble and may, under the sov ereign rule of God, be taken right out of our position of world lead ership, placed in a second-rate status, and our opportunities to give blessing and leadership and missionary endeavor and econom ic aid to the poorer nations which have been a real blessing to the world, will pass on to a new na tion. It may well be happening today. And we say, “Why?” “ It’s because of those politicians. It’s because of those communists. Or because of those strange young people who are coming along to day.” No, those are not the real rea sons. The Bible says: “ If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble them selves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heav en, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (II Chron. 7:14). It isn’t those other people — it’s us. If we would take God and His Word, and obey Him, I believe we would have a revival that all the world would one day feel. I be lieve that. I believe we need re vival. God knows there’s enough wick edness spread around here to shock us all. But God also says: “ . . . then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.” Jim Elliott, who gave his life while taking the Gospel to the Auca Indians, prayed this prayer: “ Father, make me a crisis man. Bring those I contact to a deci sion. Let me not be a milepost on a single road; make me a fork, that men must turn one way or the other on facing Christ in me.” Friends, let’s do what God asks us to do.
