means to “ bring back." Spiritual Christians are those who know how to restore a wayward brother. In verse 20 the reference is to saving another believer from physi cal death and the judgment of God. The wandering Christian's sins will be forgiven and covered by the blood of Christ. He can and should be re-instated into the Christian family. If was just as difficult for Elijah to step out in faith on the promises of God as it is for anyone of us today. In spite of his weak nesses, he prayed that it might not rain as a punishment on the peo ple for their sins. He wanted to see this happen as a means of bringing them to their senses. It did not rain for 31/2 years. When the lesson had been learned he prayed for rain and there came tremendous tor rents. There are keys to answered pray er. In verse 14 the emphasis is on obedience. Next is faith (vs. 15). Then there is cleansing (vs. 15) and confession (vs. 16). The last two are intercession and fervency (vs. 16). No matter what circum stances may arise in your life, you can meet them either with prayer or praise.
