INTRODUCTION
The University of Huddersfield is seeking to appoint to the key role of Space Planning Manager within its Estates and Facilities Directorate. The Estates and Facilities Services are instrumental in en - suring facilities offered by the University of Huddersfield to students, staff and visitors are first class, that Huddersfield maintains its strong financial position within the top ten of mainstream universities and has an academic estate that is rated within the top 10% in the UK. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Estates and Facilities (Property Services), the Space Planning Manager will develop the strategic approach to Space Management challenges across the estate by playing a key role in the development of the University campus masterplan. The University and the Estates and Facilities team needs to respond to Hybrid working models, rising utility costs, ambitious NET Zero Carbon targets (2030), and addressing utilisation challenges. The Space Planning Manager will play a key role in creating a strategy that responds to all of this. They will be responsi - ble for planning, developing and implementing strategies, procedures and systems to improve the overall effectiveness and utilisation of university space and property, across the Estate and Estate’s Services projects, ensuring integration at institutional, campus, and project level. The Estates and Facilities team were awarded the AUDE University Estates and Facilities Team of the Year in 2019, for excelling in areas from social engagement to strategy, leadership skills and space management. The Estates team were also shortlisted in the 2020 Times Higher Education awards for Outstanding Estates Strategy and Out - standing Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
