“Is Mike here?” called Miss Lin. “Here!” he replied. “And Joy?”
“Here!” she responded. “Paul?” shouted Miss Lin. “Here!”

“And Shan… Shawn … Shan-tee?” “It’s SHAWN-TAY!” the kids shouted without delay. Shante sighed loudly. Miss Lin always messed up her name.

Later, in the lunchroom, Shante felt a bit depressed. “Why are you so down?” Mike asked her. “Your birthday is next week. So that’s exciting!” said Joy. “We get to have a class party!” Shante sighed. “I had hoped for a crown with my name on it for my birthday. And my name just isn’t printed on things—not on hats, key rings, name plates, or crowns!”

“Let’s go check at the toy shop this afternoon,” Paul advised. Mike added. “They have lots of things with names on them!” Shante paused. “Okay, let’s give it a shot!”
