diamond ring, wearing a wedding ring too, you know that the promises have been kept, and that the man and wo man are now married. In thinking of an engagement ring as being the symbol of a promise, I am reminded of a great promise which God made to Noah after the flood. “ And I will establish my cov enant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of- a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and' you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual gen erations; I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth” (Gen. 9 : 11-13). I have brought you a picture of the rainbow, to remind you that God has made a promise to all people through Noah, that the earth shall never again be destroyed by water. We should be reminded of this promise made by the Lord whenever we see a rainbow. Another thing to remember is that when we see a rain bow, God is looking at it too, for we read in Genesis 9:16, “ And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.”

and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.” This is what happens when some people quarrel and separate. (Cut down the middle of the untwisted link, until you have gone completely ardtmd it.) They separate from each other and each forgets all about the other. We will let this other circle repre sent Abram and Lot. We will separate them with the scissors and see what happens. (Begin cutting 1 inch from one side. After you have gone around once, you will be in a position to split the remaining % by going ground again.) Look! Instead of dropping apart, they are linked together. Lot went down and Abram went up, but they were still linked together by love. (Let the small link fall down to represent Lot and lift the larger one to repre sent Abram.) There is something else for us to notice—the link representing Abram has increased in length, while Lot’s has not. After separating from Lot, Abram’s possessions increased great ly. Lot thought he would gain by going toward Sodom, but in the end he lost everything. Abram refused to quarrel, allowing Lot to have first choice, and God greatly blessed him. The link of love which bound Abram and Lot together was felt later when Lot was carried away captive and had to be rescued by Abram, and
