ON LOCATION: A PLEIN AIR SHOW (JAN 4 - JAN 31) Celebrating the tradition of outdoor painting this juried plein air exhibit will feature “on location” inspired artwork. Plein air painting includes any subject matter observed outdoors while also capturing the mood of a scene which often includes the sights, the sounds,temperature,atmosphereandchanging light. CITY OF PALMS GROUP SHOW (NOV 3 - 21) Back in the 1920s Fort Myers nurseryman, James E. Hendry proposed that the city be nicknamed “The City of Palms”, and so we got our official slogan. This November the Sidney &Berne Davis Art Center hosts four local artists to interpret this slogan through a photographic exhibition. Dennis Church, LawrenceMassing, Roy Rodriguez, and Sandra Yeyati have been collaborating on this idea for two years. Each artist will display 30 images depicting their unique vision of the diverse symbolismof this ubiquitous tree, and perhaps to explore why this iconic plant has become a symbol for paradise. www.SBDAC.com will appreciate this juried “cash and carry” exhibit featuring BIGArts members. 26TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF EXPERIMENTAL ARTISTS (NOV 1 - NOV 25) BIGArts is pleased to host the 26thAnnual International Society of Experimental Artists’ Juried Exhibition and Symposium. The ISEAhas a rich history of celebrating innovation through the arts, encouraging artists to explore new ideas, techniques, and subject matter, with no rules. The resulting art is stimulating, refreshing, and cutting edge. ART EXHIBITION - TED DE CLERCQ (NOV 1 - 16) Ted de Clercq is a native of Quebec. He now resides in Naples, Florida where he continues to paint and teach basic and life drawing. De Clercq has exhibited inHalifax, Nova Scotia, Atlanta, New York and throughout Florida, includingMiami, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Sanibel Island and Naples. He is widely know for his ability to paint photo-realistic works of notorious icons viewed in an historical context with references from the 20th century.
