Wellington Shire Police Support To The Perpetrators Wellington Shire Council Tuesday 25 November 2025
In the last year, Wellington Shire has had the sixth highest rate of family violence out of the 79 Victorian local government areas (an increase of 13% on the previous year). That's 1,508 call outs to Victoria Police, averaging four calls a day in Wellington. We need to do better. Everyone has the right to live safely, equally and with respect. Starting tomorrow until 10 December, we'll be hosting and participating in local events aimed at giving momentum to conversation that prevents gender-based violence in our community. Our socials will look a little di ff erent too, as we start a simple conversation each day for 16 days. By talking and learning, we are contributing to attitude change and prevention of family violence. Join us for the 16 Days of Activism, so we can help build Victorian communities where women are safe and equal. It all starts with respect.
