Things to do at this year’s Fair

WHEN: Friday, Aug. 30 through Sunday, Sept. 22; closed Mondays (except Labor Day Sept. 2) and Tuesdays

WHERE: Fairplex, home of the LA County Fair, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona

HOURS (OPENING WEEKEND): • Friday, noon to midnight; • Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to midnight, and • Monday (Labor Day), 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

HOURS (SEPT. 4-22): • Wednesdays, noon to 10 p.m. • Thursdays, noon to 11 p.m. • Fridays, noon to midnight • Saturdays, 10 a.m. to midnight • Sundays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

AMERICA’S KIDS POP in to America’s Kids where you’ll zip over to Hogwarts, zoom across to Jurassic Park and see Where the Wild Things Are in Adventures in Literature. All exhibits are open to all ages, so free your inner child and let your imagination go wild!

FUSION FEST Immerse yourself in music and entertainment diversity with our new festivals happening every weekend in the infield! Our new festivals have everything from up and coming local artists, battle of the bandas and a Lucha Libre showdown you don’t want to miss!

CLOCK TOWER STAGE Come to see the Clock Tower and stay for the entertainment! Each night people will be hoppin’ as the music is poppin’ at the Clocktower Plaza and Stage with musical acts performing some of POP culture’s greatest tunes from The Beatles, Madonna, Lady Gaga and more!

Find your way T he expansive grounds of the LA County Fair can be a bit intim- idating for visitors especially first-timers, but this year it should be a little easier to navigate as signs in each “neighborhood” will be color-coded.

ADMISSION • Ages 60 and older: $10 weekdays; $15 weekends; free on Wednesdays, noon to 3 p.m. • Ages 13 to 59: $14 weekdays; $20 weekends • Ages 6 to 12: $8 weekdays; $12 weekends • Ages 5 and younger: Free • Promotions and discounts available throughout the Fair. PARKING PRICING & DIRECTIONS • Enter Gate 17 on Fairplex Drive or Gate 9 on White Avenue • General parking is $15 • VIP parking (both gates, when available) $25 • Valet parking is available at Gate 3 for $30 • Season parking pass: $60 • Pick-up/drop-off zone at Gate 7 on White Avenue CARNIVAL PRICING • Tickets: 40 tickets, $20; 100 tickets, $50; 200 tickets, $100 • Carnival ride wristband: $50 • Weekdays: Non-transferable wristbands must be purchased at the carnival ticket booth before 9 p.m. and are good until 11 p.m. • Weekends and Labor Day: Non-transferable wristbands must be purchased at the carnival ticket booth by 4 p.m. and are good until 7 p.m. RENTAL EQUIPMENT Strollers $12; double strollers $17; wagons $17; wheelchair $25; scooter (all day) $60; scooter (after 6 p.m.) $40; lockers $5

Fairplex President and CEO Miguel A. Santana said the new signage will enhance the experience for visitors.

“Our goal for the Fair, and any event we have at Fairplex, is to create the best guest experience possible,” Santana said.

“Knowing how to conveniently navigate our grounds is part of that. Once visitors familiarize themselves with the neighborhood names, they will easily remember the carnival is in the Fun Zone or agriculture events are in Farm & Gardens.

“It makes exploration that much more effortless – no need to fumble with maps.”

ESPORTS GAMING WORLD Love video games? Love the thrill of competing? Well then you’re going to love Esports Gaming World in Building 9! Go head-to-head with your friends or complete strangers on some of Esports top video games! Keep your eyes peeled for special appearances and competitions throughout the month!

TOYTOPIA Toytopia has arrived at the LA County Fair with toys and fun for everyone! Explore how POP culture has influenced the very toys that were once our prized possessions throughout the decades! Head down memory lane and watch as some of your favorite toys and games come to life!

HALLOWEEN SUPER SHOW The frights and sights of Halloween invade the LA County Fair as Activate Entertainment presents, “Hollywood Stage 13” in building 10! Celebrate the frightening annual holiday by walking through haunted house previews, seeing live special effects makeup artists and more! Neighborhood: Downtown Fairplex Age: 3+ Cost: Free
