Arts & Culture: Explore the work of LA artists
W orks by 11 contemporary Los Angeles artists will be on display at the Millard Sheets Art Center during the LA County Fair. The exhibit Shifting Aesthetics: A Selection of Works by 11 Contemporary L.A. Artists, will open on the first day of the Fair and will run through November 3. Entry into the exhibit is included with general admission to the fair. The curated exhibit highlights works by contemporary visual artists living and working in Los Angeles and celebrates the talents and achievement of those artists working with several mediums; including ceramics, painting, mixed media and photography. Participating artists include, Darel Carey, David Flores, Genevieve Gaignard, Benicia King, Patrick Martinez, Star Montana, noé olivas, Christopher Richmond, Adee Roberson, Shizu Saldamando and Charles Snowden. As part of the gallery’s partnership with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Richmond’s Available Light will be on view for the first time since LACMA’s acquisition in 2016 through LENS: Photography Council. “One of Fairplex’s guiding principles is to celebrate that which is uniquely Southern California,” said Fairplex President and CEO Miguel A. Santana, “so to partner with such an exemplary institution like LACMA allows us to share resources, audiences and programming to benefit all.” The exhibit is curated by Dee Campos, Visual Arts Manager at the gallery. It will be open during the fair from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. After the fair closes, the exhibit will be open at the gallery through November 2 on Wednesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.
