ing with-hold not thine hand, for thou knowest not which shall prosper, whether this or that." There have been two conversions in our vacation Bible school, so clearly the work of the Holy Spirit that one can not doubt their genuiness. One, a young girl of perhaps thirteen, who, in talking to one of th eteachers said, “I thought I was a Christian before, now I know that I am.” This girl comes from a perfectly godless home, and is much under the care of Christian Science aunts. Another girl of about ten years raised her hand at the beginning of the Bible study hour, and on being given permission to speak said “I used to go to the movies every Saturday, but since I have been coming to Daily Vacation Bible School I don’t go, because I have received Jesus as my Saviour.” Not a day has passed that the Gospel has not been given to all of the children, the tiny ones as well as the older .ones. The Christian flag is displayed as we sing our song, and our Principal has made plain to us that one can only pledge allegiance to this flag as we are born under it in the acceptance of Jesus Christ. Our pledge of allegiance is a scriptural one, and no one is allowed to repeat it unless he can do so from the heart. Perhaps some would like to know just what it is. “I pledge allegiance to this my flag, and to the Lord for whom it stands. One Lord, one faith, one baptism, with salvation offered to all. ‘Thou art wor thy for Thou hast died and hast redeemed us by Thy blood.’ ” WORK AMONG THE JEWS Jam es A . Recently a call came from San Francisco to assist in establishing a permanent work among the 60,000 Jews in the Bay region. We accepted the call, and while there had opportunity through a series of messages, of laying on the hearts of many of God’s people, in Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco and Richmond, a feeling of responsibility for Israel. Many new friends for Israel were raised up and the interest of others deepened. It was decided to secure a qualified

BIBLE WOMEN’S WORK M rs. L ym an Stew art, Supt.-------Tw enty-five W om en E ngaged in H ouse to H ouse P ersonal W ork, Bible C lasses, and Soul W inning Clubs. A Bible woman was asked to help in the organization of a club for boys, and on going to the appointed place she

found it a rough, hilly locality, roads full of ruts, one of the new sections just beginning to develop in Los Angeles. Not only was the place difficult of access, but it was located just between well churched neighborhoods, and just far enough away to give the sluggish mind of today an excuse for not going to church or send ing the children to Sunday School. The heart of this dear woman had gone out to her neigh bors and especially the children for whose spiritual life the par ents had so little concern. This night the Bible woman found twenty-seven boys, the oldest about fourteen, the youngest about seven. A little later she was asked by this same dear woman to help in the vacation Bible school which she wanted so much to start during the days when the children are deprived o ftheir daily occupation by the closing of school. She had built a garage, not for her car, for she

had none, but as a place of meeting for the various Bible classes which she was wanting held in that vicinity. Her piano was not in the house, but in the garage where it could be uded for the Lord, and a few days before the vacation school opened, she prepared banners advertising it, and with the children already interested, she paraded the rough unfinished streets, that all in the neighborhood might know that there was to be a place for Bible study during the summer months. Her own home is also thrown open for the classes of children, and some of the neighbors are ready to help in the work so soon as our classes shall have out grown the present quarters. Besides the Bible woman who was interested in the boys, another Bible woman whose class for women is held in the garage, and four others who love the Lord and the children volunteer their services for the summer. The children are gathered in three groups, kindergarten, primary and juniors. Each group has one period devoted to “hand work” which is so far as possible, related to the Bible teaching, the balance of the time is devoted to Bible stories, memorizing scripture verses, learning the books of the Bible; learning to find verses in the Bible easily, and learning songs—all of them with a definite thought regarding the Word of God. And so in this neglected district we are striving to follow the injunction “In the morning sow thy seed, and in the even
