A Time for Thanks Appreciating Life’s Brightest Moments Finding success and contentment in life is rarely a solo endeavor. To truly thrive in the office or at home, we all need the guidance and encouragement of others. As we enter the final three months of 2024, I’m thrilled to share some great news — and express my gratitude to the amazing people who’ve given me so much to be thankful for this coming Thanksgiving. First, this year has been fantastic for Kaizen Physical Therapy! For the second year in a row, we’ve experienced considerable growth in our client base and presence in our community. We couldn’t be happier with how things are going, as reaching this level of success has been a long and challenging road. Our first four years in operation were a bumpy ride. After spending two of them learning the ropes of running a new business and establishing ourselves in the area, we saw our progress decline — and our stress levels rise — as the pandemic presented new obstacles no one was prepared to face. Thankfully, we weathered the storm long enough to see our workload and services begin to flourish. That upward trend began in 2023, and we’re thrilled to see our success continue as we approach the holidays. Naturally, we could not have met our goals without our clients’ ongoing support. We’re honored that you’ve welcomed us into your lives and entrusted us with your care. At a time when many physical therapy clinics across the country are double- or triple-booked, we strive to always provide you with consistent, one-on-one services you can count on. We appreciate you more than words can ever say. I’d also like to thank our incredible team at Kaizen Physical Therapy — from our in-house specialists to our web team — for all they do to ensure a positive experience for our clients and keep us moving forward. They’re the glue holding everything together. Of course, I wouldn’t have accomplished anything over the last six years without my family’s undying love and understanding. They have stood by me through it all — from the long hours away
from home to the demands of keeping things together during COVID-19. With 2025 right around the corner, I look forward to spending more time with them as my business pressures continue to decrease. Their support makes everything possible. Speaking of family, I can’t wait to gather with mine over a Thanksgiving meal at my parents’ place. It’s always fun to watch and hear everyone laugh and have fun just hanging out. Best of all, our holidays are typically drama-free. Everyone is good about avoiding hot-button topics or heavy political discussions — well, at least for one day out of the year! Fortunately, we agree to disagree when necessary and simply focus on the positive things in our lives. That said, one of the positive things happens to be an odd family tradition held at my expense. One Thanksgiving when I was still a young kid, I ended up clogging the toilet — an event that continues to be a source of much laughter and reminiscing by the rest of the family. Someone inevitably brings it up mid-meal every year, and I’m sure other people will mention it now that it’s made the front cover of this newsletter! To be honest, I’m glad it still inspires a good laugh among my loved ones. It’s always better to chuckle with someone than argue with them over the state of the world. Although I suspect (or at least hope ) your family traditions are quite different from mine, I wish you an unforgettable Thanksgiving filled with happiness and love.

Explore the Real Sensory Powers You Didn’t Know Existed Got a Sixth Sense?
Movement Your muscles and joints are like a human radar system that can identify how you occupy space. You can walk down the street without crashing into things and stand still without falling. Your body can tell when to make micro-adjustments to stay upright and move forward. Powerful receptors send information to the brain about the angle and position of your joints and muscles, providing constant feedback on your surroundings and how you must move through them. Time If you want to know the time, look at your body instead of your smartphone. Your body has many internal clocks that signal when
Have you ever felt like you have a sixth sense about things? As it turns out, you have a whole arsenal of senses! From the uncanny ability to detect your body temperature to sensing changes in your surroundings, subtle brain functions are extraordinarily nuanced. Let’s explore the quirky and fascinating ways you experience the world beyond your five senses. Temperature Your body can recognize when you are hot or cold and keep your internal organs at the right temperature. Your body has its own thermostat, a series of nerves in the skin that detect the temperature of your extremities. The brain will then command your body to shiver or sweat to regulate your body temperature.
essential functions should occur. Have you ever woken up before your morning alarm goes off? Your internal time-telling abilities intuitively know when your day starts. Your body also times the rhythms of your blood pressure, heart rate, hormones, and other vital functions. So, next time you shiver in the cold or stroll down a busy sidewalk, you have your body’s built-in sensors to thank. You’re practically a sensory superhero!
STROLL YOUR WAY TO HEALTH
GENTLE EXERCISES TO GET FIT WITHOUT THE FUSS
Ever wish you could get a killer workout without feeling like you’re auditioning for a role in an action movie? Low-impact workouts prove you don’t need to jump, jog, or jostle to get your heart pumping and muscles working. Whether it’s stepping into a fitness routine for the first time or rehabbing an injury to meet your health goals, these three low-impact routines are a gentle, safe way to get in shape. Walking Regular walks have many physical and emotional benefits, such as improving balance, managing weight, and boosting mood. Walking is gentle on your body, and you determine
your pace. If you want to increase the intensity of your walking workout, walk up a hill or use a treadmill at an incline. If losing weight is one of your fitness goals, strive to walk 30 minutes daily. Remember, every step helps! Pilates Pilates focuses on controlled movements, improving core strength, alignment, and proper breathing techniques. Though this low-impact routine is easy on your joints, you’ll still work up a sweat and improve your strength, balance, and overall quality of life. Pilates also helps reduce stress, enhance sleep quality, and increase energy levels! Circuit Training If you want a complete cardio session that’s gentle on your joints and quick to get done, consider creating a circuit training routine. Begin by selecting a series of low-impact exercises like glute bridges or toe taps. You will perform each move for the same number of reps, then move on to the next exercise without a break. Circuit training offers a full-body workout perfect for all experience levels. So, if you’re looking for a workout that delivers results without the high-impact drama, low-impact exercises are your ticket to fitness success — minus the action movie stunts!

Here’s what others have to say about Kaizen PT! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Great people and clear goals for improvement of injured or weak joints and muscles. My primary care physician recommended Kaizen Physical Therapy and that was the right call. Shout out to Daniel Yang, a very thoughtful and focused physical therapist there, who guided me out of my shoulder pain with the steps to strengthen my aging shoulder and back muscles. Thank you!” –Rebecca D. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Barry at Kaizen PT is wonderful. He has worked for several months with my 83-year-old Mom. He is incredibly empathetic, supportive, and a great listener. He has encouraged Mom to try a cane and then a walker, which she finds so helpful for feeling secure in her ability to continue her walks and activities. Barry has gone well above the call of duty — walking Mom home from her appointment or going to her apartment with a walker so she could test it out at home. Mom really appreciates and listens to what he says. I just usually want to hug him for helping me keep Mom safe and active!” –Jennifer M.
“If I could give Kaizen Physical Therapy more stars, I’d give them AT LEAST 10 for sure. I have been going to Kaizen for the last month for a back issue, and I couldn’t be happier. Marina’s depth of knowledge, level of care, and repertoire of techniques have done wonders for me. I was in constant pain before seeing her, and now I’m on the path to healing. My whole experience, from my initial intake call to now, has been wonderful. The clinic has a calm, welcoming environment, and the front desk staff are super friendly and helpful (shoutout to Kevin!!). I absolutely recommend!” –Kit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Sharonda and the whole team at Kaizen PT were great. Sharonda helped me with my shoulder pain and was very careful, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I can highly recommend her. The desk staff was also super friendly, and the waiting area was comfortable. I was looking forward to my weekly appointments.” –Marie K.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Brought my mom here after knee
replacement - excellent decision (that’s my mom in the photo). Every physical therapist and staff member is excellent, listens well, is skilled, and truly cares about results. My mom is thrilled with the results. If I ever need this, unquestionably, this is the best place, hands (and feet) down.” –Kendra F.
