INTRODUCTION – MRG
Experienced, creative and dynamic leaders are key to the innovation of the education sector. Beyond the traditional roles, there is an increasing need for commercial skills, business acumen and strategic leadership. These professionals work in partnership with academic colleagues to improve service, enhance educational outcomes and to future proof the organisation. As schools compete on multiple levels, bringing in specialist knowledge is paramount to ensuring an institution’s competitive advantage as well as maintaining its reputation as a destination of choice for students and staff. 21st century leaders must be visible, informed and adept at navigating the complexities of the sector. Our education practice specialises in non–academic leadership appointments. We recognise the changing landscape of the sector and the importance of putting students at the heart of decision making. We understand that every organisation and their requirements are unique. Our extensive experience across education means we are well placed to understand the individual needs of establishments and deliver a bespoke campaign that will attract the best in-class professionals.
As a consultancy, we strive to add value and continuously endeavour to ensure our approach is nothing less than exceptional.

CASE STUDY – INSPIRED LEARNING GROUP
BRIEF: MRG was retained by the Inspired Learning Group to assist with the appointment of a Head of Marketing and Admissions . As a newly created role, the key focus was to develop and implement a data driven growth strategy and tactical business development plan to ensure the attraction, recruitment and retention of pupils across the broader group. In addition, the role was to cover the development and implementation of an all-encompassing marketing strategy to raise the group’s visibility, advance the brand, and articulate clear messaging to internal and external stakeholders. APPROACH: As a senior role, we looked to approach leading practitioners with established sales and marketing backgrounds with a particular focus on digital marketing capabilities. Educational experience was a key consideration too. RESULTS: By incorporating both current and past educational practitioners we were able to approach 75 candidates who fulfilled the key elements of our matching matrix criteria. Following an extensive and detailed pre-interview process, 4 candidates were invited to interview and the successful candidate was appointed 8 weeks after the campaign launching.

CASE STUDY – DAVID ROSS EDUCATION TRUST
BRIEF: Working in partnership with the trust, The Management Recruitment Group’s (MRG) brief was to secure an outstanding and passionate Head of Operations to lead and deliver on a large number of operational functions across the whole estate (including facilities, estates, maintenance, catering, capital investment and business administration teams). APPROACH: MRG undertook a bespoke comprehensive search and attraction campaign, specifically researching and identifying operational professionals across comparable sectors and organisations, includingpublic sector bodies such as local authority, NHS and educational establishments, and private sector organisations. MRG personally reviewed every application that was received (over 130) and undertook telephone and SKYPE screening to identify a long list of candidates (16). Following an in-depth face-to-face interview process of these candidates (consisting of competency based questions around the role and the applicants experience), MRG were able to refine a final shortlist that was presented to a panel at David Ross Education Trust consisting of 7 candidates (spanning HE, public attraction venues, private sector retail and operations and MAT). RESULTS : The successful candidate was a versatile and agile leader with experience of operating at a senior level in Head Office and customer facing roles. Having held a senior operations position at John Lewis, they led on the back-of-house Operating Model across the John Lewis estate; focusing primarily on driving efficiencies through simplification and organisational change.
