Plainview Wins Class 3A Volleyball Championship
The Plainview Lady Bears defeated Mobile Christian 3-0 to capture the school’s first AHSAA State Volleyball Championship. Plainview (51-5) was making their third appearance to the finals. Plainview jumped out to a 25-19, 25-11 lead.
Mobile Christian built a 9-0 lead and won the third set 25-15. Both teams battled fiercely in the final set with Plainview winning 25-22 to claim the 2023 Class 3A State Title. Class 3A Tournament MVP Chloe Hatch had 16
kills and 10 digs to lead the Lady Bears. Kami Sanders also had 16 kills and 12 digs. Faith Odom had nine kills, while setter Ali Price totaled 46 assists and 14 digs. Zanna Ferguson had a team-high 20 digs. Aubriella Hairston managed nine kills.
Among list of accomplishments this season includes several other championship titles. The Lady Bears were the 2023 North Regional Champions, the Class 3A Area 14 Champs, and the Lady Bears won the DeKalb County Tournament. their
The Crossville Lions varsity basketball team earned their first win of the 2023 season with a 47-43 victory over DeKalb County rival Ider. Jesus Velasquez (#3) helped Crossville pull ahead 28-14 at halftime. The Lions held on in the second half for the win. Crossville improved to 1-2 overall. Fort Payne's Kaiden Adams (#45) helped the Wildcats pick up a 45-28 opening round State Playoff win over Mortimer Jordan on Friday, November 10, 2023. Fyffe's Hunter Lathum (#2) helped the Red Devils seal a 48-0 first round playoff victory over West End. With the win, Fyffe improved to 10-1 overall this season and advanced to the second round of the AHSAA State Playoffs against Lexington. The shut out was the Red Devils 6th this season. Overall, Fyffe has only allowed its opponents to score 89 total points this season, and 42 of those were against the Pisgah Eagles. Fyffe Shuts Out West End In Playoffs
The Guntersville football program picked up its 10th win of the season with a 31-7 victory over Springville in the opening round of the State Playoffs on November 10, 2023.
