Little Alleynian 2022

Little Alleynian Issue 5, 2022

DUCKS celebrate 30 years of learning this year and whilst relatively young in the history of Dulwich College, the journey has been filled with adventure and fun! Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II also celebrated her Platinum Jubilee this year and our teddy bear’s picnic brought together the DUCKS’ family to mark the occasion. “Family does not necessarily mean blood relatives, but often a description of a community, organisation or nation.” - Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II DUCKS is a community built on family and I believe that this quotation captures the spirit of kindness that has been shown throughout the year to people in need. Support for charities, support for each other and support for our wider community has been a joy to have been part of. As always at this time of year, we wish a fond farewell to those families who are moving to different settings and further adventures. Our Year 2 cohort performed ‘Wiz Wham Alakazam’ with aplomb and shared their hopes and dreams for the future with us as they completed their DUCKS’ journey. The memories created this year have been underpinned by the three creative curriculum themes of:

DISCOVERY! - TIME MACHINE - THE NEXT CHAPTER …

I hope that the next chapter brings you deeper learning, exciting challenges and many more friendships. It has been an honour to lead the team here at DUCKS and to have seen how the children across the Kindergarten and the Infants’ school have simply sparkled! I will leave you with the words of Winnie-the-Pooh, when I say: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” - A.A. Milne
