Things To Do June Jam Week

By Brandon K. Pierce Alabama Ledger Whether this is your first June Jam, or if you are returning for the first time in several years, the Northeast part of Alabama is filled with many exciting places to visit, eat, and shop. Of course you are here for the music, and the 2023 June Jam should not disappoint. After all, it has an amazing lineup of artists, including Fort Payne's own ALABAMA.

But when you're not jamming out to your favorite tunes, you may want to take the short ride up to Lookout Mountain to visit the Little River Canyon or hit I-59 south and head to the historic Noccalula Falls and Campground near Gadsden. Small town charm is also something you don't want to miss. Fort Payne's historic downtown, as well as other nearby cities such as Guntersville, Albertville,

and Gadsden, are all thriving with restaurants, boutique shops, and vintage markets. Fort Payne Footworks is a must stop in downtown if your looking for clothes, hats or shoes. Also, be sure to stop at ALABAMA's Fan Club, which also has a large variety of things for sale such as ALABAMA hats and t-shirts. The High 5 Bin stores in Rainsville or Boaz are also fun places to shop. What could be better than great music and

shopping? How about some southern BBQ with all the fixin's from Shines BBQ on Highway 75 in Fyffe, AL. If Mountain Music is your jam, and you find yourself falling in love with Northeast Alabama, then check out the Real Estate deals from Tracy Honea at Remax in Albertville. Also check out People's Independent Bank, Diane Pledger Insurance and Gadsden State Community College.

In addition to the June Jam, several other events are also planned, as ALABAMA is holding its Fan Appreciation Week. Some of these events include Teddy Gentry's Singing with the Stars Talent Contest on June 1 at 6 p.m. at the Fort Payne City Hall Auditorium. A brunch at Cook Castle for the Jeff & Lisa Cook Foundation is on June 2, at 11 a.m. A coin show will be held on June 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buffalo Coin Shop, which is located in the ALABAMA Fan Club. There will also be a Songwriter Showcase Spectacular on June 2 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Payne City Hall Auditorium. Photo by Brandon K. Pierce, Alabama Ledger

ALABAMA's June Jam is set to return to Fort Payne on June 3, 2023. The event will start at 1 p.m. Some of the musicians set to join ALABAMA include Randy Travis, Oak Ridge Boys, Jake Owen, Jamey Johnson, Exile, The Frontmen (Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar; Tim Rushlow, formerly of Little Texas; Larry Stewart of Restless Heart), Mark Wills, Neal McCoy, Dailey & Vincent, Home Free, The Malpass Brothers, Dee Jay Silver, Chapel Hart, The Isaacs, and Worth The Wait. The event will also include surprise performers and it will be hosted by Storme Warren. Prior to the performances, a public celebration of life is set to take place at noon on June 3 for ALABAMA Band Member Jeff Cook, who has passed away. Cook, along with Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry, helped bring the original June Jam to Fort Payne and this year will be the first June Jam since 1997. Photo by Brandon K. Pierce, Alabama Ledger
