crossing the sea to go over to the other side. After they got out on the sea, a great storm came up; the wind blew and the waves dashed into the boat and filled it with water, so that it was ready to sink. Jesus being tired after His long day’s work, had gone into the back part of the boat % and was sound asleep, with His head on a pillow. The storm was so severe that the disciples were greatly frightened, for it seemed the boat was going to sink. The disciples came to Jesus and awakened Him, saying, “ Lord, save us, or we shall perish.” Jesus rose up, and spoke to the winds and the sea. Now just think of talking to the wind and the water. Now, listen, and let us see what He Just as soon as\Jesus spoke, the wind stopped blowing, and the sea was still and calm. Then He said to the dis ciples, “ Why were you afraid? How is it that you have so little faith?” The disciples knew Jesus was on the boat,

GIRLS GATHERED FOR EUODIA BANQUET. PHOTO TAKE! The work has grown steadily from year to year until now there are twelve teachers giving full time to this branch of the work. Scores of girls have found the Lord Jesus Christ through the medium of the Euodia Club and are out in active service for the Lord today. Many have taken the.training at the Bible Institute, who, previous to their touch with Euodia, knew little of the Bible or of God’s plan for their lives. Almost daily, letters and testimonies come from girls telling of the establishing of Christian homes with a family altar; others telling of a hard, long struggle, and the final The character of the younger son is seen in his request, “ Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me.” He is not content that his father should keep his portion. He would enjoy it himself in independence of the hand from which it comes. Soon he would be LESSON even more free and in the far country he EXPOSITION would escape from his father’s eye, as— F. W. Farr in the independent portion— he would be free.from his father’s hand. This is the way in which men treat God. Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and men are glad indeed to have His blessings, but they can not enjoy them in submission to Him or in His presence. The Annual Banquet of the High School Girls’ Euodia Clubs was held at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Cal., May 31, 1924. Three hundred and seventy-five girls were in attendance on this occasion, representing forty clubs in the High Schools, Junior High Schools and in a few of the Grammar Schools in Los Angeles and the surrounding towns. This work (which is under the auspices of the Bible Women’s Department of the Institute) was started in 1909, with one class in the Los Angeles High School, by Mrs. T. C. Horton (better known as “ Mother Horton” the teacher being Miss Lula Crowell, now Mrs. Lyman Stewart. and yet for the time being, they just saw the big waves, and the water coming in the boat, and they became afraid. You know that is the way some of us do when danger is near, or we are left alone, we forget that Jesus is near us. I know a little boy, well he is quite a big boy six years old, and do you know when he is in Sunday School, and mother leaves the room, and he cannot see her, he cries just like a baby. Now I am not going to tell you his name for you all know him. We hope this story will show him, that if we belong to Jesus, we are never alone, but that Jesus is always near to watch over and care for us, even though we cannot see him with these eyes. He wants us to trust him, and we know what a wonderful and powerful Saviour He is, for even the wind and the sea obey His voice. Closing Prayer.
