Rejuvenation, the welcoming of new energy, is a transformative and habitual practice for so many people craving a deeper connection to mind, body, and spirit. With the challenging and unpredictable nature of the world we live in today, shiing our energy inward and toward the present moment is our best chance to navigate through the uncertainty and illuminate our emotional, mental, and spiritual health. In order to create a beautiful life, our thoughts need to be consistent with what we want to create. Negative energy will manifest a mentality of lack and fear, and consequently, attract the reality of this expression. It is in the seeking of spiritual connectedness that ultimately leads us to shi our energy to attract what we want. Some of the greatest spiritual thinkers of our time said it best, “less eort, more allowing,” meaning, the object of our desire is not something our thinking can manufacture, but instead, a process of surrender to the natural order of things designed by the spiritual universe is how we come into gis, such as love, money, and success. On the other side of this personal evolution is a life beyond our wildest dreams. Please write to me anytime at stacyoliver@mindbodysoul.media and share your story of transformation from living in fear to creating from faith.

Spring Personal Rejuvenation — You are the greatest living system and you only get one life. WENDY CAMPBELL

Living systems are: Self-maintaining, meaning that they seek what they need to stay alive and to thrive. (not just existing) Self-renewing, meaning that they continue to grow and develop in ways that renew their energy. Self-transforming, meaning that they adapt and change their form, but keep their essence. Rest generally refers to a passive state (sleep, lounging and so on), whereas rejuvenation is a state of feeling renewed, restored and ready to start fresh. Rejuvenation allows our brains to take a break as we repair and rejuvenate our emotional perspective. Gone are the days of chaos, being busy and striving to accomplish. Sure there is gratication in advancement and it shouldn’t be completely put aside, however it is important to acknowledge what gets damaged in the process. As middle-aged women, we are living in a time of reaction, xing what is broken and hoping like hell we haven’t done too much. We are in a time of our lives that we have done for others to the point of our own detriment. e good news is that regardless of where you are in the process you still have time. e weight of the world that we have carried that has hardened us and broken us down has not killed us. e requirement in your own rejuvenation is that you start and stay the path. Give yourself some grace. You have made it this far without total disaster. Have a clear vision and set an intention that will guide any decisions and changes you make. ere has to be a time in your day that you devote completely to yourself. Consider this your sanctuary time. We as human beings have been given a gi of being our daily creators; we choose where our energy goes, recognizing and valuing our gis.

Spring Forward and prioritize your personal Maintenance renewing and transformation.

FOR THE LIFE OF ME

B D L H

New life springing up everywhere excites the senses. e seedling is being called to “wake up,” move toward the light and burst through the soil. And in a sense, so are we. As we listen to the birds singing

sluggish mimicking our physical exposure to environmental toxins? Could it be that the clutter in our minds and hearts is standing in our way? It is said that what we bring to the light becomes the light. Our conscious attention is the “light within” that gives us the power to shine

with enthusiasm, it may seem that their song is meant for us. e dawning of spring has arrived just in time to li our spirits. Our senses are aroused by brilliant colors, replacing quiescent days and nights with an orchestra of fragrances and scintillating warmth. It’s spring again and we cannot help but feel more alive. Yet as we begin to thaw out and gradually emerge from the darkness, we may nd ourselves sinking deeper into the muck as what we’ve ignored will certainly still come to the surface. Confusion sets in when the cold gives way to sunnier days and may linger within us. And just like that closet we’ve been neglecting for months, our higher self may need some attention, too. Spring is oering us an exciting opportunity! Could there be a better time to dig in and clear all the weeds that are holding us back? Negative thoughts and emotions can act as frequency information capable of interfering with the natural bioenergetic performance of the body. Energetically, this can be the impetus for dis-ease and premature aging. Is it safe to say, then, that the burden of buried emotions, rigid attitudes and limiting beliefs aects our very cells, thus causing our bodies to become

away this heaviness. is may seem impossible at rst and most of us may still cling to the notion that we can put this task o a little longer. is is a set-up for prolonged misery. Procrastination is a direct attack on our self-esteem. Just like the seed breaking through the soil, there is something within urging us to grow and be all we can be. We can choose to ignore, put o and temporarily reduce our desire for wholeness and healing, but we cannot obliterate it. When we roll up our sleeves, suddenly the miracle of limitless possibility bursts through and all barriers dissolve, leading to a profound inner renewal. Our conscious attention may require support, initially, but soon we are tackling the clutter of our minds, hearts and even our cells like a pro. Ironically, it is by digging in the dirt that you restore your love of life and nd true rejuvenation. A truly holistic approach moves through the unconscious blocks, fears and cellular toxicity that stand in your way. REJUVENATE Your

RELATIONSHIP

TO Yourself

pring is a time of regeneration, and new beginnings. Research shows that happiness and health are profoundly linked to relational wellness—the depth and quality of your human connections. If you are ready to rejuvenate your relationship life this year, your relationship to yourself is like the soil in which you will plant all of your connective seeds. Self-love has become a popular, yet highly misunderstood idea. Some fear self-love is self-indulgence, selshness, or narcissism. In my work as a psychoanalyst, I help people leverage the power of their inner world and unconscious mind to achieve integration and agency. From this point of view, self-love creates personal balance, and is the essential foundation of emotional health and well-being, which deeply protects and enriches our ability to care for others. Self-love is less about spa days, good sleep, or exercise, and more about the vital relationship we

have with our own inner world. is kind of emotional intelligence evolves naturally when we have secure attachment bonds in infancy and childhood. ese bonds are the source from which we internalize understanding and compassion for the complexity of our emotional lives, develop the skills to regulate our emotions, and act on them in constructive ways. Individuals who lack secure attachment bonds may struggle with self-love, and the related emotional skills later in life. To build self-love, we need to rst develop emotional literacy: the ability to name the complexities of our inner experience from moment to moment. is sounds simple, but in my experience all adults need help with this skill, due to the unconscious blocks, gaps, or assumptions we carry from our past. Compassion—an integral part of love—is not an anything-goes ticket. Rather, compassion is the

depth of understanding for where any emotion might be coming from, based on your personal history, value system, and needs. is compassionate view will directly lead to healthy discernment, better regulation, and more benecial decisions. Herein lies the feedback loop of true self-love, including healthy, constructive behaviors, emotional regulation, and a capacity for empathy with others. Developing self-love takes time, eort, and oen expert help to understand how your subconscious and unconscious assumptions may be a barrier to a healthy self- relationship. However, the benets of self-love are enormous in your own wellbeing as well as your capacity to give and receive love. My online course—Love yself—can empower your transformation into truly loving yourself, and lead to stronger relationships overall.

A New Dream For Life After Divorce. . . Rebuilding Wealth and Confidence B K I

W hen DeAnn’s second marriage fell apart, so did the divine vision of her heart. She went from a homeschooling mom to the newest employee at her neighborhood Starbucks. During this time, she started her Real Estate Licensing course to create a way to provide for herself and her four children. Within a few years, DeAnn remarried and became a licensed real estate agent. But her worst nightmare was still ahead. During her third marriage, DeAnn and three daughters were abruptly displaced from their family home, and it became clear she was heading toward her third divorce. She had nowhere to go and no one in her corner. “I get a stomach ache just thinking about it,” DeAnn admits. “I’ve been in the worst situation a woman can be in. I don’t want anyone to go through that.” Riddled with fear, DeAnn and her girls crashed at a friend’s house while DeAnn worked day and night to grow a business that could support her family. Within a year, DeAnn became known as the go-to- real-estate agent in her Southern California market, and had a new house and Maserati to show for it. She turned the devastation of divorce into a miraculous story of rebuilding her life, career, wealth and condence. At this time she began to dive hard into her healing journey to help herself, her family and others. Aer feeling so alone in her divorces, she committed herself to being the advocate every woman needs when rebuilding life from the ground up. She worked diligently to dive into the education of divorce real estate and assembled a team of service providers with divorce expertise in the legal, nancial, real estate and emotional support departments. is mission is much bigger than real

support their time of transition and healing. “If I knew then what I know now, divorce wouldn’t have been so traumatic for me and my family,” DeAnn reects. “I would have been proactive to get a team in my corner: a coach, therapist, support group, divorce attorney and specialized real estate agent who could come alongside me.” For example, DeAnn had her real estate license at the time she was dividing assets with her ex-husband. However, she wasn’t yet trained in the complexities of divorce and all the special programs available. at knowledge would have been the dierence between having a safe place to live or being homeless. “When it comes to divorce, we’re dealing with a very dierent type of transaction. It’s a highly emotional, devastating time for the family,” DeAnn advises. “Most people hire a friend or relative who may have loyalties on one side, and the other side will not agree to that. It’s critical to bring in a neutral party who has command of the divorce real estate space.” DeAnn is now trained in strategic communication, diusing conict and helping divorcing couples make business decisions over emotional ones. She is highly skilled in getting the most value with the least amount of time and hassle. And most importantly, DeAnn gracefully navigates urgent pressures such as court orders, division of assets and fast timelines. “My vision is that my divorcing clients get everything they need out of their real estate transactions. I want to help them create a plan for secure housing and rebuilding wealth through real estate investments. I want to see

them surrounded by a team of trusted professionals who hold their hand through every step of the divorce, so they can turn this crisis into a new dream for their life.”

Rejuvenation

Rejuvenation by definition is the act or process of giving new energy or vigor to something. When I think of rejuvenation, I think of the process of renewing my MIND BODY and SOUL. With intentional focus, we can rejuvenate ourselves in any season, but nature gives us a gentle reminder with the changing of the seasons that we can start anew also. Consider Revitalizing Your Wealth Plan

Much as a hurricane disrupts more than a community’s topography, changing interest rates aect more than current borrowing costs. Volatile nancial markets, like swi weather systems, may cause short term losses while setting up for potential economic rejuvenation. High net worth families should prepare to weather investment impacts, as well as consider how higher interest rates may require refreshing the techniques relied upon to meet other nancial objectives. Morgan Stanley’s Family O ce Resources group points out “some of the most common interest rates, adjusted monthly and used by the IRS to make certain calculations, have been lower than 1% and as high as 9.8%”. 1 A range that wide can cause meaningful changes in outcomes. As such, now is a good time for a deep dive and review of income tax and estate planning strategies. Especially given the end of a period of historically low rates and a move to what could be a “higher for longer” rate cycle. 2 e impact can be demonstrated by comparing two commonly used charitable gi strategies: lead annuity and remainder annuity trusts. ese are considered split interest trusts because they divide an investment into two parts: the ending value of the asset that funds the trust and a cash ow periodically distributed from the trust. Generally: 3 I. Lower interest rate environments make CLATs more favorable, while II. Higher interest rate environments make CRATs more favorable.

rough a CLAT a donor irrevocably transfers proper- ty to a trust for a term of years, makes a gi of an annuity interest (cash ow) in the trust property to a charity and makes a gi of the trust remainder to a beneciary (typi- cally themselves or younger relatives). Both gis are valued using an IRS benchmark discount rate. e amount of the beneciaries’ taxable gi is the market value of the prop- erty transferred to the trust less the value of the retained annuity. e amount of the charitable gi, and the corre- sponding deduction, is the value of the retained annuity. 1 • e transaction can be structured so that the present value of the annuity gied to the charity equals the market value of the property transferred to the trust (zeroing out the CLAT). 1 • A lower interest rate decreases the value of the annuity being paid to charity and increases the value of the gi of the remainder. 1 • Transfer tax savings are achieved where the property transferred to a CLAT appreciates at a rate greater than the IRS discount rate used in valuing the income and remain- der interests. A lower discount rate means a lower hurdle for transfer tax savings. 1 • Example: Donor, 60, transfers property worth $5 million to a CLAT giving a $568,346 annuity to charity for a 10-year term when the IRS discount rate is 2.4% (zeroing out the CLAT). 1 1 e Impact of Interest Rate Changes on Estate Planning (CRC 3893632 12/2021) 2 Lisa Shalett – e GIC Weekly: An Ination Boomerang? 3 Topics in Wealth Strategies: Trust Tax & Estate Strategies in a Rising Rate Environment (CRC 4337771 03/2022) 4 Income and Estate Tax Planning Toolkit (CRC 3893593 02/2022) 5 Family O ce Resources Group: Wealth Planning Illustration – CRAT (CRC 3378632 01/2021)

‒ If the assets grow at 6% per year, at the end of the 10- year term, $1,462,990 would pass to the remainder beneciaries free of additional gi/estate tax. 1 ‒ Alternatively, if the IRS discount rate were 1.2% at the time of the transfer, a $533,590 annuity would “zero out” the CLAT and $1,921,094 would pass to the remainder beneciaries if the assets grew at the same 6%. 1

trust measured by a life (or lives) or a term of up to 20 years, and makes a tax-deductible gi of the trust remainder to charity. e trust itself is tax-exempt but distributions from the trust are taxable. 1 • A lower interest rate produces a smaller income tax charitable deduction (and increases the value of the annu- ity). 1 • Example: Donor, 60, transfers $1 million to a CRAT and retains a $60,000 annuity for a 10-year term when the IRS discount rate is 5.8%. e donor funds the trust with a low basis concentrated stock position that doesn’t pay dividends. e trust sells the stock without capital gains tax and reinvests in tax exempt municipal bonds, thereby limiting the taxable income to the donor on annual dis- tributions. e donor makes a charitable gi of $554,182. 5 ‒ If the discount rate declined to 3.4%, the charitable gi decreases to $498,478.5 ese examples demonstrate that wealth planning requires ongoing management to maintain relevance through evolving life events, personal preferences and eco- nomic factors. Knowing your options and impacts across a lifetime of economic seasons could provide rejuvenating benets to sow the seeds of growth for generations.

“NO TWO BODIES ARE ALIKE, SO I NEVER SAW TREATING PATIENTS WITH A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL APPROACH"

DR. KRISTIN KRUSSEL AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO HEALING

I n 2001, the doors opened at the Center for Mind, Body & Spirit. Co-founders Deborah Zorensky, a practicing dietitian, and Linda Du, an intuitive, saw an opportunity to bring together multiple providers under one roof to address the varied needs of their clients and customers. Within four years, they moved to larger quarters at 7649 Delmar Boule- vard to make room for their growing team of practitioners. e Center for Mind, Body & Spirit oers mental, physical and spiritual therapies and lifestyle programs ca- tered to each individual. With almost 20 independent practitioners oering unique services under one roof, pa- tients and clients can seek an integrat- ed approach to their care to include chiropractic, acupuncture astrological consultations, massage, bioenergetics, energy therapy, hypnosis and more. is approach to holistic healing caught the attention of Dr. Kristin “Kris” Krussel and allowed her to cross paths with Deborah. “Seeing e Center was the rst time I experienced a business where so many of my inter- ests and passions intersect,” Dr. Kris says. “I knew I had to be a part of this space. A licensed chiropractor and tness professional, Dr. Kris’s goal as a physician is to oer her patients a holistic healing experience beyond spinal adjustments. And so, in 2007, she began oering chiropractic care at e Center and later also became one of the acupuncture practitioners. Since graduating Logan University

in 2005, Dr. Kris has been providing chiropractic care to patients in the St. Louis area, and she has always sought opportunities to diversify her oerings. In addition to postgraduate coursework at Logan and her acu- puncture licensure, she has studied chiropractic neurology, myofascial release, kinesiotaping, corrective ex- ercise prescription, nutrition, female hormone balancing, labor and deliv- ery support, meridian therapy, acu- pressure and acupuncture, pediatric chiropractic, and pre- and post-natal chiropractic care, and is currently studying functional medicine. “No two bodies are alike, so I never saw treating patients with a one-size- ts all approach,” Dr. Kris says. “Hu- mans are beautifully complex, and the process of healing and maintaining health is incredibly personal,” Dr. Kris says. “I see much more progress made when patients are treated as the unique individual they are through a multifaceted approach.” In 2022, when e Center was ready to change ownership, Dr. Kris stepped in. With so much history with e Center and with values that align to its mission, Dr. Kris felt ready to take on the prospect of running the multifaceted business. “Each of our independent provid- ers is deeply talented, highly trained, and has a wealth of experience, but what’s most impactful about our work is the integrated approach we take to healing,” says Dr. Kris. She acts as the wellness concierge, learning about a patient or client through the one-on-

one consultations to develop a person- alized list of recommendations. “e consultations are a great way for me to help clients reach their goals.” She adds, “It’s the best part of what I do!” With so many practitioners under one roof, the options for an individ- ual’s healing journey are staggering. Patients and clients can receive a free consultation with Dr. Kris as their guide, giving them a window into what services or support they may be able to receive at e Center and beyond. e Center also boasts 800 sq/ of retail space with an exceptionally well-stocked stone and crystal selec- tion rivaling any collection you may nd at many local conventions, plus a myriad of gis, jewelry, healing tools, nutritional supplements, and more. While Dr. Kris didn’t always see herself as a business owner, she’s glad she was open to the possibility of taking a leading role at e Center. “I have very important shoes to ll and am grateful to those who have forged such a rich path,” she says of this venture. “But I’m condent that all of my experiences throughout my career were exactly what I needed to be able to say ‘yes’ to this opportunity.” She adds, “It’s such a privilege to be a part of this community. I’m grateful to be able to continue the vision that Deborah’s and her original business partner Linda created more than 23 years ago.” For a free consultation, contact: e Center for Mind, Body & Spirit 7649 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis MO 63143 Centerformindbodyspirit.com Call or text 314-725-6767

REIGNITING YOUR SPARK: How to Rejuvenate Yourself in the Midst of Career and Life Burnout

B L A. M, SHRM-SCP, ICF ACC, ELI-MP O T N C

B

URNOUT. ere are many symptoms and causes, and we all know it when we feel it. As we enter the spring season, full of growth and promise, it is also easy to feel

overwhelmed by promises, activities and plans both at work and home. Burnout is nefarious since it slowly creeps up on us and leaves a trail of mental and emotional issues in its wake, including anxiety and depression. When you recognize your own triggers and warning signs, try a few of the tips below to regain your sense of self and strength: Make a change. e most eective way of dealing with burnout is to focus on sustainable life changes. Ask yourself if you’re happy in your current situation. Perhaps it’s time to make a life shi, such as a new career or downsizing your home. Give yourself a break. If you can, step away from the situation. is may mean going out for a walk or getting away for a few days. Your goal is to breathe and clear your mind. You can certainly do this at home – or on a short vacation! Solve the problem. If you’re currently in the middle of a stressful situation, take action to solve the problem. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from others if necessary. Control the controllables. Take control of the situation where possible. But also have the wisdom to accept that there are situations that are beyond your control. Set boundaries. It’s true – “no” can be a complete sentence. Be (brutally) honest. Sometimes it’s best to set your pride aside and ask for help. is is the perfect time to open up to a friend, relative, or a personal coach.
