Pass the torch! Around 50 people took part in this year’s Special Olympics Torch Run, held on May 18. Accompanied by police officers, the athletes made their way from the East end police station to the Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School (CCVS), before ending their run at Baxtrom’s Independent. While walking to their destination, they collected funds for the Special Olympics. The Torch Run is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police as its charity of choice. Members of law enforcement agencies all across Ontario held Torch Runs.

The many athletes, accompanied by police officers, walked from the East end police station to CCVS and then Baxtrom’s Independent.

Mackenna Simard and Austin Newell were the first to take a hold of the ceremonial torch.
