Lots 176-206 TK Angus is excited to have Brad Arrowsmith as a guest consignor! Brad will be bringing an excellent bunch of coming 2-year-old Black and Red Angus bulls to the offering. Over the years, we have partnered on several herd sires with Brad, as he shares a similar philosophy and type when it comes to buying bulls, so the genetics that Brad will bring on the Black side will be very similar to our own. Welcome to the 42nd TK Angus Production sale! Many thanks to Tim, Kim, Rick, and the entire TK crew for allowing us to be a part of this sale. A quick note about our offering. They are about as old school as you can raise bulls. They are wintered on a high roughage, “keep’em alive” diet, summered on grass, and then sent to the lot in early September. The bulls aren’t touched, trimmed, or pampered in any way. They are sound, grown, and will have enough condition by sale day to express their true genetic potential. As you will see in the catalog, there are many Purple (Black red-gene carriers) in the offering. As much as either the Red or the Black world may wish to deny
each other’s existence, they both NEED EACH OTHER for genetic variation. There is no other way to introduce NEW ANGUS genetics to either breed without crossing the color barrier. Period. Yes, I get the color resistance in some markets, but the red discount is not the same everywhere, and there are a number of feeders that vigorously source Reds, even in small packages. Buy on quality, capitalize on value, and put some within-the-breed heterosis in your pocket while saving yourself $$$ on the purchase price. If anyone has questions about how the red gene deal works, by all means call me! I’ve been playing with purples since 1995. For those coming in on Sunday, the Bunkhouse in Valentine will be open and Scott Baker and I will be hosting a pre-sale social for all local or out of town buyers to come meet and greet and give us an opportunity to introduce ourselves.
