no match! With the same Lord of hosts on our side who answered Je- hoshaphat’s cry, came to his rescue, and turned impending disaster into triumph, we can afford to face the Enemy without fear and with defiant songs of praise to our great Jehovah- Jesus in our hearts, and to trust and expect that He in His own good time and way will not only bring us safely through this present period of danger and threatened disaster to our work, but that He will give us a victory attended with “much spoil.” The story has just one more touch to it. “The fear of God was on all the. kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel. So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.” The effect of it all was twofold. First, a solemn impression was made upon all the surrounding nations. What had taken place proved a striking witness to the heathen concerning God, His reality, His power, His right eousness, His mercy. Was not that a telling missionary result? And to the people of God it brought not only respite from odtward strife
but also inward rest of heart and mind that was unique and of infinite value because it was God-given and brought a new and blessed consciousness of Him. That is always the difference in effect between our fighting our battles, of whatever nature they may be, and letting God fight them for us. May we learn this lesson well,
and press forward during the coming months, despite all there is around us and confronting us that tends to dismay and depress, with the peace of God garrisoning o u r hearts and minds and the joy of the Lord filling our souls, because of the blessed fact that “The battle is not yours, but God’s.”
