Great Dixter House & Gardens Credit Jack Mccoy Make Tracks for the Garden of England In recognition of Kent’s reputation as the Garden of England, our tour includes visits to the impressive Walmer Castle, Great Dixter House and their stunning grounds and gardens. We also take in the views at the scenic Samphire Hoe nature reserve, tuck into lunch on the Kent & East Sussex Railway and spend some time in historic Canterbury. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Canterbury Today we head to Canterbury with free time to explore the historic city, famed for its medieval buildings, quaint tea shops and magnificent cathedral. Having been a place of worship for more than 1,400 years, the cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site. In between our explores, we can enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the many great eateries here. Day 3 Walmer Castle and Gardens & Samphire Hoe We start our day at the grand Walmer Castle and Gardens , near Deal, learning more about the fascinating history of the castle and its former famous residents, including the Duke of Wellington in his role as Lord Warden. We also enjoy a guided tour of the magnificent eight-acre gardens, featuring herbaceous borders, pretty blooms and mature trees. This afternoon we travel along the coast road down to the beautiful Samphire Hoe nature reserve. Home to some of the best views in Kent, we enjoy a welcome talk and set off on a guided walk , keeping our eyes peeled for wildlife, rare plants, stunning landscapes of the White Cliffs and spectacular English Channel views. Day 4 Kent & East Sussex Railway & Great Dixter House & Gardens This morning we make tracks for the Kent & East Sussex Railway to embark on a one-way steam train journey from Tenterden to Bodiam. We tuck into a ploughman’s lunch on board as we admire our scenic surrounds. This afternoon is spent at Great Dixter House & Gardens . Having been the family home of gardener and gardening writer, Christopher Lloyd, the arts and crafts style gardens are particularly impressive here. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.

Chapel Down Vineyard Kent Medley: Medieval

Canterbury, Wines & Small Trains Experience Kent’s highlights and hidden gems on this wide-ranging new tour. From our base in seaside Folkestone, we start with free time in medieval Canterbury before honouring Churchill’s ‘Few’ at the clifftop Battle of Britain Memorial. Visits to leafy Tenterden and cobbled Rye, wine-tastings at Chapel Down Winery and a ride on the miniature Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway past serene Romney Marsh provide lovely extra touches. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Canterbury & Battle of Britain Memorial Site After breakfast, we head to Canterbury for time at leisure this morning. This historic city holds many attractions, including the Gothic masterpiece that is UNESCO World Heritage-protected Canterbury Cathedral and the city’s Westgate gatehouse and cobbled, shop-lined alleyways. This afternoon we visit the clifftop Battle of Britain Memorial Site , seeing the pilot memorial and exploring the Spitfire-wing-shaped Visitor Centre for insight into Churchill’s brave ‘Few’ who won the 1940 aerial campaign. In Folkestone, we have free time to stroll along the coastal path looking out to the sea, just a few minutes’ walk from our hotel. Day 3 Tenterden & Chapel Down Vineyard This morning we travel into the Weald of Kent to Tenterden where we have the morning at leisure in this delightful market town. Enjoy a stroll along its pretty High Street, browse its selection of shops leaving time for a lunch stop. This afternoon we travel a short distance to the renowned and award-winning Chapel Down Vineyard . Here we enjoy a guided tour of the vineyard, learning how the various still and sparkling wines are harvested and produced, followed by a tutored wine tasting. Day 4 Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway & Rye This morning brings a one-way ride from Hythe to New Romney on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway , dubbed ‘Kent’s Mainline in Miniature’ for its one-third full size steam and diesel locomotives. Our journey showcases beautiful Romney Marsh, with its grazing sheep and alpacas, and pauses at Dymchurch, where there’s the chance for a walk to the beach, just 5 minutes away. This afternoon, we visit the historic Cinque Port of Rye, with free time to take in its cobbled lanes, half-timbered buildings, antique shops and St Mary’s Church. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
