Timeless Cotswolds by Road & Rail

Join us for a gentle journey around the charming Cotswolds, where quaint villages, handsome cities and undulating pastures come together. From our hotel near the spa town of Cheltenham, we explore honey-stone villages such as Broadway and Stow-on-the- Wold and visit the idyllic walled Miserden Garden. Free time in historic Gloucester, elegant Cheltenham, and a ride on the Gloucester-Warwickshire steam railway cap our experience. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Scenic Cotswolds Drive including Moreton-in-Marsh Today we experience some of the prettiest places in the Cotswolds on a scenic drive though this quintessentially English region. Absorb the views over the area’s rolling hills, honey-stone houses and lush meadows as we travel to pretty towns and villages such as the elegant market town of Stow-on-the Wold, picturesque Broadway, sometimes referred to as the ‘Jewel of the Cotswolds’ and charming Chipping Camden, notable for its terraced high street and thatched cottages. We stop in the picturesque town of Moreton-in-Marsh, where the Cotswolds’ largest street market takes over the main street every Tuesday. Day 3 Cheltenham & Steam Train to Broadway This morning we have some free time to explore Cheltenham at leisure. This Regency town, made popular as a spa destination by George III, brims with history. As we stroll The Promenade - the historic shopping street - it’s easy to see why it became a favourite with 18th century aristocrats after its health-giving spa waters were discovered. Cheltenham is famous for its horse racing Festival, which features the celebrated Gold Cup, so it is fitting we head to Cheltenham Racecourse to ride the Gloucester-Warwickshire steam train to the nearby town of Broadway . Here, we can take in Broadway’s lovely streets and period We spend this morning at leisure in the historic city of Gloucester, with ample time to explore as we wish. Perhaps visit 11th-century Gloucester Cathedral, which doubled as Hogwarts in many Harry Potter films, delve into the award-winning Gloucester Waterways Museum overlooking the River Severn, or roam the shops and factory outlets of the waterside Gloucester Quays. This afternoon we visit the Miserden Garden , a 17th century idyll nestled in the Cotswolds Hills. Wander this timeless walled garden, famous for its stunning mixed borders, 200-year-old sycamore tree grown through a stone wall and grass steps designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
