Prey on Seaside Scarborough, Scampston & Whitby This scenic 5-day tour of North Yorkshire contrasts the dramatic moorland landscape of the North York Moors National Park with pretty stone-walled market towns and historic coastal towns of Scarborough and Whitby. With plenty of time to explore, we can admire the stunning coastline, find out about its most famous citizens like Captain Cook and marvel at a country house private art collection. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival This morning, we visit the beautiful Scampston Hall and Walled Garden , one of the finest regency country houses in North Yorkshire. Marvel at the stunning interior and art collection before we see the spectacular contemporary gardens. This afternoon, we have free time to explore the bustling fishing port of Whitby. With plenty to do and see, you can visit the Captain Cook attractions or stroll along the waterfront for souvenirs and delicious fish and chips. See the dramatic abbey ruins, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Day 3 Scarborough with Afternoon Tea We relax in Scarborough, free to enjoy the leisure facilities at the Crown Spa Hotel or explore this popular seaside resort. Alongside its North and South Bay beaches, divided by a headland home to the 12th century Scarborough Castle, there’s plenty to see and do here. We can stroll the Peasholm Park Japanese styled park, gardens and lake; take a ride on the North Bay Heritage Railway miniature railway; hop on the Victorian Central Tramway funicular, which links the town centre with South Bay and its harbour; or simply browse the variety of shops, eateries, museums and galleries dotted around the town. In the afternoon we are treated to an afternoon tea at our grand hotel. Day 4 National Centre for Birds of Prey & North Yorkshire Market Towns This morning, we have a thrilling visit to the National Centre for Birds of Prey set in the magnificent Duncombe Park estate. The highlight is a spectacular flying demonstration to see the power and size of birds of prey like the majestic Steller’s Sea Eagle as they take to the skies. Afterwards, we visit the picturesque market town of Helmsley with free time over lunch. Our final stop is Malton, known as Yorkshire’s Food Capital, where artisan producers and independent shops sell unique gifts and delicious food and drinks.
