Full Steam Ahead in Fort William The highlight of our fabulous Scottish west coast tour is a spectacular journey on the famous Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig, considered to be one of the greatest railway journeys in the world. We also feature an exhilarating ride on Britain’s only mountain gondola and a cruise on Loch Linnhe to Seal Island. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Oban This morning we take a scenic drive along Loch Linnhe to Oban, the unofficial capital of the West Highlands, acclaimed as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’. We spend the day at leisure exploring the town’s attractions, such as McCaig’s Tower & Battery Hill, Oban Distillery and the Oban War & Peace Museum. Please contact the sales team if you prefer to explore the Isle of Mull on this day. Day 3 Nevis Range & Cruise on Loch Linnhe Today, we ride the Nevis Range Gondola, Britain’s only mountain gondola, from 300 feet up to 2,150 feet on the north face of Aonach Mor, the 8th-highest mountain in Britain. During the short journey (12-15 minutes each way) we are treated to awe- inspiring views of the Scottish Highlands, including the Great Glen and Ben Nevis. We enjoy free time to visit the restaurant, admire the panoramic views and explore the Mountain Discovery Centre before returning to ground level. In the afternoon we enjoy a cruise on Loch Linnhe . Lasting approximately 2 hours, our cruise takes us to Seal Island and includes live commentary from the skipper and refreshments en-route. Along the way, we can hope to glimpse fabulous white-tailed Eagles and the seals Today, we embark on what is described as the world’s greatest railway journey—an 84-mile return trip from Fort William to the fishing village of Mallaig on the famous Jacobite Steam Train. As we travel, we encounter spectacular scenery and rumble over the magnificent 21 arches of the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct, which featured in the Harry Potter films. Please note: special booking terms are required for the Jacobite Steam Train, including a non-refundable deposit. It is possible to book a journey from Fort William to Mallaig using a standard train without the booking restrictions: if you would prefer this option please speak to the Sales Team. after whom the island is named.
