According to the data, average wages rose following the Covid-19 pandemic through Q4 2022 before beginning to decline in Q1 2023. Meanwhile, average wages across Michigan have continued to climb steadily, outpacing those of Greater Grand Rapids in Q3 2023 for the first time since Q1 2020. Average wages in Greater Grand Rapids are still lower than the average across the U.S., however, the region has a cost of living nearly 10% lower than that of the rest of the country.
