Shuttle Drivers Thankful For Opportunity To Move To New Role Are you looking for a driving position that allows you to be home daily? Or do you want the simplicity of drop-and-hook and no-touch freight? We have shuttle openings throughout our network, and some of our new shuttle drivers are thankful they’ve been able to take advantage of new career opportunities. ‘IT’S WONDERFUL’ Jackson TN shuttle driver GARY KIRK has been with Averitt for close to 10 years, starting in late 2012 as a flatbed driver at JKN. For the last eight years, he was a flatbed driver for our Dedicated M-D Building Products team. He’s thankful that he kept a close eye on our Job Hotline and was recently able to take the next step in his Averitt career. “It’s wonderful. I should have done this years ago,” Gary says with a laugh. “It’s service center to service center, drop and hook, no touch. It’s unbelievably easy.” ALL ABOUT FAMILY For Owensboro shuttle driver JEREMY CHENAULT , his decision to transfer was all about family. Jeremy started in 2006 as a Dedicated switcher and also served as a Dedicated driver. In 2021, he and his wife moved from Tennessee to Kentucky to help take care of family, and Jeremy was able to transfer to a city role in Owensboro. Earlier this year, Jeremy made the move to shuttle so he could spend even more time with his family. “I start work at about 9 at night, and as long as everything goes the way it’s supposed to go, normally I’m back at the service center around 7 or 8 a.m.,” Jeremy explains. “I go home and go to bed, and by the time my kids TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CAREER GROWTH

get out of school, I’m up, so I get to spend the whole day with them. As I’m getting ready to go to work, they’re getting ready to go to bed. So I’m not missing anything anymore.” 'AVERITT ACTUALLY CARES' Jeremy has seen our culture firsthand as he’s navigated taking care of family, and he’s thankful that he’s been able to move into new career opportunities to help with that process. “Everything is not about the almighty dollar,” he says. “Averitt actually cares about its associates, and family is important. I’m a huge family guy, and I came from a very large military family, so I like structure. I like the fact that we have uniforms. I enjoy putting on the uniform every single day. Plus, Averitt is very, very competitive with our pay.” Want to know more about shuttle positions and other opportunities that are available? Gary has some simple advice. “If you want to transfer, keep in touch with the Job Hotline,” he says. “It’s easy, but you have to keep up with it because it’s updated twice a week.” To read more about the Job Hotline and see a full list of open positions, visit InsideAveritt.com/Jobs . GROWING THROUGH PEOPLE LIKE YOU

Atlanta West City Driver’s Experience Inspires Referrals

Prior to joining our Driving Force, Terrelynn was working for a competitor and was unhappy, but she says she has found her home with Averitt and is happier than ever with her job. “I have a set schedule and more time at home because everything is so organized,” Terrelynn says. “I’ve never had to stay at a pickup or delivery for a long period of time, and we have great driver support.” She could see herself in both of her referrals. One had his CDL and was working as a security guard at one of her delivery spots, while the other was driving for another company. Like Terrelynn, they were unhappy and wanted an opportunity to make more money. “I am a straight-forward person, so I talked to them from a money perspective,” Terrelynn says. “Averitt pays well, and it gives me peace of mind knowing I don’t have to worry about how much my check is going to be or if I will get paid on time. I can buy things for my family now. I don’t have to check the price on every little thing at the grocery store anymore, and that’s a great feeling. Life is too short to be stressed and not happy.” After seeing how happy Terrelynn was with her new position at Averitt, Atlanta West city driver TERRELYNN TERRELYNN COMADORE joined our team just over a year ago, but has already successfully referred two friends to Averitt.

both referrals began to show interest in applying. “I started telling them about Averitt and how nice everyone is here,” Terrelynn says. “They started asking questions about leadership, everyday operations and my experience here. When they told me they were going to apply, I used the referral option in the Averitt Team mobile app. It was easy!” Our People Like You referral program is all about finding like-minded associates so we can continue to meet our goals. This free, family-friendly event is scheduled for Aug. 13 in Nashville, and it will feature lots of tasty food, camaraderie, children’s activities, and of course, highlight-reel action on the diamond. The Averitt Family Softball Tournament is also a great opportunity to bring awareness to Averitt Cares for Kids and our special relationship with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. If you’ve never attended the Averitt Family Softball Tournament, we hope you’ll make plans to do so this year. For more information about the event, contact AMOS ROGAN at ARogan@AverittExpress.com. NEW DISTRIBUTION & FULFILLMENT FACILITY OPENING SOON NEAR MEMPHIS

Expected to open in either late July or early August, the facility will feature docking for 57 trailers and 150 general parking spaces, and it will employ 13 associates in its infancy, with room to grow. “This new facility is set up to operate similarly to what we’ve done in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta and other large metropolitan areas,” says ED SMITH , director of Distribution & Fulfillment. “While just a stone's throw from Memphis, being in Olive Branch, MS means less traffic for our drivers and better transportation rates for our customers.” Averitt will be the first tenant of the construction project. A site leader, two frontline leaders, eight dock associates and two freight clerks are positioned to begin work in the center, but more jobs are expected to become available as customer accounts are added. “It is a completely new building that our associates 260,000-square-foot site to house distribution & fulfillment operations A brand-new Distribution & Fulfillment center is scheduled to join our family of top-notch facilities in just a few months. The 260,000-square-foot building, which is still under construction, is located just across the Tennessee state line from Memphis in Olive Branch, MS.

will be proud to work in,” Smith says. “I believe the amenities will also help us to recruit new, top- notch associates to join our team. This facility looks fantastic, and it’s very strategically located, just a short haul from the Memphis rail terminal.” Averitt’s current Distribution & Fulfillment network is made up of 28 locations. With the addition of this 29th facility, we are even better equipped to handle the growing international shipping needs in the region. “This will significantly increase our service opportunities in the area,” Smith says. “We will have the ability to run more freight through our network, and that will improve our efficiency and transit times. This also means more opportunities for our existing

associates and the addition of new positions on our team for new associates.” Like all Averitt Distribution & Fulfillment centers, the site will also feature a fleet of all-electric forklifts. “Because we're always looking for new and better ways to minimize our impact on the environment, electric forklifts will be used rather than propane- powered lifts,” Smith says. “This will greatly cut down on carbon emissions and our use of fossil fuels.” Your commitment to doing things the right way is one of the reasons we’re able to open new facilities like this. Coupled with our already-outstanding customer service in Memphis, this Distribution & Fulfillment center will allow us to put The Power Of One on full display. T m

'A VERY UNIQUE POSITION'

The trend got its start with the rise of e-commerce. Companies needed a way to cut down on transit times and shipping costs, so they began storing their products in strategically located facilities around the United States. The results were positive. Customers did not have to wait weeks for their purchase to arrive from a central warehouse from long distances, and the cheaper cost of shipping was welcomed by all parties involved. Third-party distribution and fulfillment centers have become an important component to the operation of many retailers. shopping online,” director of port and distribution sales DAVID GNIEWEK says. “That’s when storing goods in warehouses across the nation became necessary for companies wanting to cut down on shipping costs and transit times for their customers.” Because of our 2.5 million square feet of storage space across the Southeast and South Central United States, Averitt became an attractive option for companies to use for our distribution and fulfillment services. “Averitt was in a very unique position,” David says. “With our storage space and lease-free policy in so many large markets, accompanied by our award- winning service network, top-of-the-line equipment and associates servicing accounts, we were able to offer everything our customers needed.” Annie Sloan Paints, an international shipping customer since 2018, This practice became even more crucial – a necessity even – with the rise of COVID-19. “COVID really pushed people to do most of their Our Distribution And Fulfillment Centers Help Us Show Power Of One To Annie Sloan Paints DAVID GNIEWEK

recognized the convenience of The Power Of One . The British-based company began using our Nashville facility for all of its distribution and fulfillment needs. “They researched where they needed to be in order to provide supplies to their 600 stockists in the United States, and they decided Nashville was the perfect spot,” operations manager CODY SMITH says. “Now, Our Nashville Distribution & Fulfillment center plays a key role in helping us deliver outstanding service to Annie Sloan Paints.

online and our associates pick, pack and ship the merchandise by LTL. This provides opportunities for our associates to move more freight and increase our density. “Because of our footprint, advanced technology and reliable service, we are able to be a true one-stop shop for Annie Sloan,” Cody says. Unlike other carriers, we do not require a contract or storage minimum. That gives our customers the ability to test markets – like Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte and other large metro areas – with minimal risk. Annie Sloan took advantage of the opportunity and has enjoyed tremendous success! T m

TEAMING UP TO HELP THE HOMELESS

Jackson MS Hosts Clothing Drive For Jackson Resource Center

OS&D associate YOLANDA GRAY coordinated the challenge as she has done since 2018. “I began working with the Jackson Resource Center my first year here,” Yolanda says. “We participated in a coat drive for a Team Up Community Challenge event, and it went very well. We collected a ton of coats, and associates even donated money that allowed us to go out and buy more coats. We’ve worked with the JRC ever since by taking part in canned food drives, toy drives and things of that nature.” For the past four years, Putalamus White, CEO of the Jackson Resource Center, says she has been able to count on Averitt to help in times of need. “Yolanda and I have been Facebook friends for a while, and she responded to one of my posts a few years ago when we were looking for supplies,” Putalamus says. “Now I know I can count on Averitt to pitch in, especially during the holiday season. Their recent drives helped us begin feeding the hungry and stocking our new building with necessities.” The Jackson Resource Center has long provided food, clothing and care for the homeless in the Jackson area. On May 4, the JRC hosted the grand opening of its new location. The site offers furnished, dorm-style apartments, community restrooms and an industrial-sized kitchen for those needing help getting back on their feet. Along with shelter, food and clothing, the JRC partners with outside In April, our Jackson MS service center hosted a Team Up Community Challenge event benefiting those experiencing homelessness. Our team members collected bags of clothes, purses and an assortment of household items to donate for the Jackson Resource Center’s grand opening of a second, larger location. A SPECIAL WAY TO TEAM UP Our Hickory team recently found a special way to participate in our Team Up Community Challenge, as they volunteered for a Special Olympics event in Morganton, NC. The event featured eight schools and a total of 120 athletes. Remember, the Team Up Community Challenge is an ongoing, year-round event, so we encourage you to let us know how you’re “teaming up” to make a difference! agencies and organizations to provide health care, mental health assessments and guidance to becoming independent. “We don’t want to be just a temporary fix,” Putalamus says. “We want to provide people with the knowledge they need to live a better life. With Averitt’s generosity, we’re able to focus on things like booking appointments and helping others get well.” During the recent coat drive, Jackson MS associates earned 26 community service hours, which results in a matching company donation to Averitt Cares For Kids . “I have a passion for helping those less fortunate, and I believe the Jackson Resource Center is a great asset to our community,” Yolanda says. “And, by participating in Team Up Community Challenges, we are able to contribute to Averitt Cares For Kids at the same time. GOING GREEN WITH RED THINKIN’ REWARDS

Electric Mower Makes The Cut For Tampa Shuttle Driver

It started when he traded in his conventional leaf blower for a cordless EGO blower to take on the road when he and his wife go camping. He purchased an EGO trimmer soon after, and his Red Thinkin’ Rewards helped him complete the lawn-care triple crown with a new EGO Power+ cordless lawnmower. “I have a large yard I cut with a zero-turn and finish up with a push mower, but my old one locked up and I needed a new one,” Doug says. “I already had an EGO blower and trimmer. They are light, super well-made and work great, so I thought I would look into getting their lawnmower.” Before heading to the store in search of his ideal mower, Doug first logged on to his Red Thinkin’ Rewards account to check out the catalog’s long list of items. “I purchased a pellet grill last summer without knowing I could have gotten one with my RTR points, and I wasn’t going to make that mistake again,” Doug says. “I found the lawnmower on the site and it saved me almost $800!” Since redeeming his points for the lithium-ion mower, Doug says he has saved even more money and time by not buying gas or having to worry about changing oil. Plus, he says the mower is so quiet, he can work on the lawn in the early hours without waking up the whole neighborhood. “It is so quiet,” Doug says. “I can carry on a conversation while it’s Lately, Tampa shuttle driver DOUG LANE DOUG LANE has been swapping out his gas-powered outdoor equipment for EGO brand cordless outdoor tools.

A few years ago, he bought a Yamaha surround-sound system for his television when his old receiver bit the dust. “I think it’s great Averitt offers Red Thinkin’ Rewards,” Doug says. “I build up points without even thinking about it, and the item catalog has grown so much in the past few years. You can find just about anything you’re looking for. Averitt comes through and I really appreciate it.” Associates earn Red Thinkin’ Reward points every day by reaching service and safety milestones, meeting KPI goals and referring new teammates to Averitt. Our Team Has Carefully Prepared For These Situations
