„Kad jaganjci utihnu“ (1991) Premda je „Kad jaganjci utihnu“ više kombinacija drame i trilera, vre- menom je našao svoj put do vrha svih top-lista najboljih horora, i to sa razlogom. Maestralna gluma Entonija Hopkinsa i Džodi Foster (obo- je su nagrađeni Oskarom za ove uloge), briljantno napisan scenario i vanvremenska priča o kanibalizmu koju svi znaju, pozicionira ovaj film na sam vrh liste najboljih horora, ali i najbitnijih fimova iz devedesetih godina prošlog veka. „Ajkula“ (1975) Holivudska industrija se može podeliti na period pre i posle „Ajkule“, jer je ovo Spilbergovo ostvarenje započelo eru blokbastera i redefini- salo komercijalni američki film. Ono što ga čini strašnim, iako je ajkula vidno lutka, jesu muzika i atmosfera u gradiću u kom je radnja smešte- na. Spilberg je vrlo vešto režirao film sa limitiranim budžetom, ali zato i dan-danas ne možete naći osobu koja nije makar čula za njega.
THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991) Despite The Silence of the Lambs being more of a drama/thriller com- bination, over the years it has found its way to the top of all the best hor- ror charts, and for good reason. The consummate acting performanc- es of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster (both of whom won Oscars for their roles), the brilliantly written screenplay and the timeless universal story of cannibalism, ranks this film among the very best horror films of all time, but also among the most important films of the 1990s. JAWS (1975) The Hollywood film industry can be divided into the pre- and post-Jaws eras, because this Spielberg production launched the era of the block- buster and redefined commercial film in America. More than the shark that’s clearly a puppet, what makes Jaws horrifying is the music and the atmosphere in the small town that serve as the setting. On a limited budget, Spielberg directed the film with great skill, and that’s why you’d still struggle to find anyone who’s never even heard of this film. „Psiho“ (1960) Daleko pre „Psiha“ Alfred Hičkok je obezbedio svoje mesto među naj- boljim rediteljima kako svoje generacije, tako i u okvirima svetske ki- nematografije sveukupno. „Psiho“ je bio dosta rizičan projekat jer je obrađivao teme koje nisu bile dozvoljene u Holivudu, te ga je Hičkok sam finansirao, što je bila retkost u to vreme. I pored strahova studi- ja „Paramaunt“, film je postao njegov najveći hit u karijeri i proslavio je Entonija Perkinsa i Dženet Li, koja je za ovu ulogu bila nominovana za Oskara, a Hičkok za režiju. PSYCHO (1960) Alfred Hitchcock had already secured his place among the best direc- tors, both of his generation and of world cinema as a whole, long before the release of Psycho. It was a fairly risky project, due to it addressing top- ics that were then taboo in Hollywood, and was also financed by Hitch- cock himself, which was rare at the time. Despite the fears of Paramount executives, the film became the biggest hit of his career, and brought fame to both Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh, who was nominated for an Oscar for this role, with Hitchcock nominated for his direction.
„Isijavanje“ (1980) Kada je Kjubrikov klasik „Isijavanje“ izašao u bioskopima, naišao je na negativan prijem kod publike i kritike. Vremenom film je stekao kultni status, ali je proces reevaluacije trajao preko deset godina. „Isijavanje“ je kultno ostvarenje zbog mnogo elemenata – atmosfere, glume Džeka Nikolsona, sjajno adaptiranog scenarija i maestralne režije. Jedini zaklju- čak koji se može izvesti je da je film bio neshvaćen u svoje vreme. THE SHINING (1980) When this Kubrick classic was first released in cinemas, it was received negatively among both audiences and critics. However, the film gained cult status over time, though the reevaluation process took over a dec- ade. The Shining is a cult creation due to many elements: the chilling at- mosphere, the acting of Jack Nicholson, the brilliantly adapted screen- play and masterful direction. The only conclusion to draw is that the film was misunderstood in its time.
