Licensing Determinations

After a background investigation is completed, the Licensing Department recommends suitability or non-suitability of a gaming license to the prospective employee or vendor; Approval of the suitability is given by the Executive Director or the Commissioners, as identified in the Ordinance or regulations;

A tribal gaming license is then issued to the primary management official and key employees of the gaming enterprise with prompt notification to the NIGC of the issuance of such license; the tribe confirms that the licensee has met the standard of licensure: “any person whose prior activities, criminal record, if any, or reputation, habits and associations pose a threat to the public interest or to the effective regulation of gaming, or create or enhance the dangers of unsuitable, unfair, or illegal practices and methods and activities in the conduct of gaming shall not be eligible for a gaming license”;
