PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Overnight crossing Plymouth to Santander with Brittany Ferries. Day 2 Arrival in Spain and drive to our hotel in Leon in time for dinner. Day 3 Guided half-day walking tour of León and the cathedral . While in Galicia we visit the stunning Romanesque Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, one of the most impressive cathedrals in western Europe, and the Pazo de Rubianes, a true Galician palace with magical gardens and vineyards. We also visit the magnificent Tower of Hercules, the only fully preserved Roman lighthouse still in use. These are just some of the highlights of this once in a lifetime tour that, each day, takes in a different aspect of this wonderful coastline filled with cliffs, beaches and small fishing villages. Northwest Spain is one of the most spectacular Spanish regions, largely undiscovered by British holidaymakers despite its long history with tourism. The region has been welcoming travellers since medieval times and pilgrims still make their way to historic Santiago de Compostela to this day. Day 4 Visit to the Castillo de los Templarios in Ponferrada, then onto Galicia for the next 4 nights. Day 5 Guided half-day walking tour of Santiago de Compostela including the cathedral & museum. Day 6 Driver’s Day Off at our resort hotel in O Grove. Day 7 Guided tour of the Pazo de Rubianes with wine tasting. Day 8 Visit to A Coruña to see the Tower of Hercules, then onto Gijon where we spend our last evening. Days 9-10 Drive to Santander for our overnight ferry to Plymouth.
