Pearls of Northern Portugal Our tour of northern Portugal takes us first to the golden sands of the coast. We are treated to a guided tour of the city of Porto with its tile-fronted churches, flowering balconies and Port wine estates. We also enjoy a guided tour of Portugal’s birthplace, the historic town of Guimarães. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most atmospheric towns in the north of Portugal. After exploring the northern region, we make our way south to the magnificent Curia Palace Hotel. Originally built in the 1920s in a Belle Époque style and lovingly restored to its former grandeur, it is sure to delight your guests. Whilst here, a guided tour helps us uncover the historical gems and splendour of the riverfront city of Coimbra. We finish our holiday in the glorious ‘Golden City’ of Salamanca, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain with its cathedrals, bridges, plazas and medieval graffiti adorning the walls.

PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Overnight crossing Plymouth to Santander with Brittany Ferries.

Day 2 Arrival in Spain and drive to our overnight hotel near Palencia in time for dinner. Day 3 Visit to Chaves in Portugal, then onto our hotel on the northern coast of Portugal. Day 4 Guided half-day step on tour of Porto, with a visit to a Port Wine Estate with Port tasting. Day 5 Driver’s Day Off at our resort hotel in Povoa de Varzim. Day 6 Guided half-day walking tour of Guimarães, then travel south to the Curia Palace Hotel. Day 7 Guided half-day step on tour of Coimbra, including the University and Baroque Library. Day 8 Drive to the golden city of Salamanca in Spain where we spend our last evening. Days 9-10 Drive to Santander for our overnight ferry to Plymouth. Based on Sunday/Wednesday departures
