For other destination ideas, we can also offer the always popular Poland Twin Centre and a brand new tour to the Czech Republic.

Poles Apart This twin centre packaged tour is based in two of Poland’s most iconic settings, the hugely popular medieval city of Krakow and the town of Zakopane, rich in folklore, boasting unique architecture and a dramatic mountainous backdrop. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival After our overnight stops, we make our way through the Czech Republic and into Southern Poland. We will have time to settle in prior to dinner. Day 2 Memorial Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau Today, we pay a visit to one of the most moving and poignant sites in the whole of Europe. The concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau is listed by UNESCO World Heritage as a site of great historical importance given that it was here that 1.5 million people were killed by the Nazis between 1942 and 1945. We will be provided with a guided tour through the museums and the original camp barracks. Day 3 Krakow Driver’s Day Off After breakfast we will meet our guide for a half day walking tour of Poland’s former capital, considered by many to be the most beautiful city in the country. The main focus of the tour is the main market square with the historic Cloth Hall in its centre. Other attractions include Wawel Royal Castle, built on Wawel Hill, where people have been living for 50,000 years and where, over the past 1,000 years, Polish Kings decided to take up residence. Day 4 Wieliczka Salt Mine & Zakopane This morning, we will leave Krakow behind and travel to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a stunning “underground town” located on nine levels with chambers connected by corridors. We have the chance to visit twenty of the historic chambers with their saline lakes, remarkable salt sculptures and the marvellous St Kinga Chapel. There is a shortened tour available by lift for groups who are not able to manage the stairs (there are 800 of them!) which must be booked in advance. After perhaps enjoying lunch in the underground ‘Miner’s Tavern’, we will re-board our coach and make our way southwards to the Polish resort of Zakopane and our second hotel, located at the foot of the Tatra Mountains. Day 5 Dunajec Valley & River Rafting Today, we will make a full day trip to the Pieniny Mountains and the beautiful Dunajec Valley. The highlight of our day will be a relaxing 2 hour 15 minute guided river rafting trip from Katy Harbour. Rafting has been practised here for centuries and our journey, on traditional, wooden rafts will take us about 18km down the Dunajec River through one of the most beautiful gorges in Europe, ending at the Szczawnica Harbour. Day 6 Zakopane Driver’s Day Off This morning, we will explore the lovely ‘folklore’ town of Zakopane. We can take a stroll down Krupowki Street, the main pedestrian area with numerous restaurants and an array of boutiques. If we choose we can take the funicular railway to Gubalowka Hill – the ride covers the 1298m long route in just 3.5 minutes and climbs around 300m – from where we can enjoy fabulous views of the town and the surrounding Tatra Mountains. Day 7 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.

Medieval Czech Republic This tour combines the beautiful city of Prague, with its eclectic mix of modern and traditional, together with the medieval city of Cesky Krumlov, one of the most picturesque locations in the whole of the Czech Republic. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive in Prague this evening and settle into our hotel. Days 2 & 3 Prague We have the next 2 days free to explore this magnificent city with its many attractions. The capital and largest city in the Czech Republic, Prague stands on the Vltava River and is the historical capital of Bohemia. Its nickname is the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ and is not hard to see why. The town spreads outwards from the Old Town Square, giving way to Gothic churches and colourful baroque buildings. Don’t miss the medieval Astronomical Clock, with its animated show every hour. Day 4 Trebon and Cesky Krumlov Today we drive south through the Czech countryside to the beautiful spa town of Terbon with the surrounding land famous for its lakes and islands. We enjoy free time here in the renaissance centre for lunch. In the afternoon we head for the 13th century city of Cesky Krumlov (please note that on arrival at Cesky Krumlov, passengers need to walk from the coach park to the hotel). Day 5 Cesky Krumlov Today we go on a guided tour of this beautiful medieval old town, getting insights into its history, before relaxing among the cobbled streets, cafés and restaurants

at our own pace. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.

Cesky Krumlov
