Triberg Waterfalls

Heart of the Black Forest Join us on a tour of Germany’s spectacular Black Forest region. Famed for its beautiful evergreen forests and mountain scenery, we will explore picturesque medieval towns steeped in history. With visits to the towns of Triberg and Wolfach, we learn more about traditional skills and see the world’s largest cuckoo clock. We also visit the city of Strasbourg and the beautiful town of Baden-Baden. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Triberg and Black Forest Traditions This morning we start with a visit to Triberg, famed for its traditional wood carvings and cuckoo clocks. Here we have the opportunity to see the pretty Triberg Waterfalls and/or the Black Forest Museum complete with exhibits on clocks and mining. In the afternoon we return to Gutach – via a stop to view the world’s largest cuckoo clock – to visit Black Forest Open Air Museum where have a 45 minute guided tour. This is followed by a Black Forest cake demonstration , including coffee and cake. Day 3 Baden-Baden and Mummelsee Today we travel through picturesque countryside to stop for a short while to admire the views of the Mummelsee before continuing onwards to the superb spa town of Baden-Baden, where we will spend the rest of the day exploring. Day 4 Wolfach/Zell am Harmersbach Driver’s Day Off For guests staying at Landhotel Hirschen: Today we spend time at leisure. We can take the bus (free of charge with local visitor card) into nearby Wolfach from outside the hotel. The pleasant main street has several shops and cafés. Slightly further afield, why not visit the Dorotheen Hutte to view the Today we spend time at leisure. We can take the train (free of charge with local visitor card) from the station to the beautiful town of Gengenbach & explore the old town. Day 5 Strasbourg and Canal Cruise Today we have a full day in the picturesque and historic port city of Strasbourg, the capital of the region and centre of the European Parliament. To see more of the city, we take a circular canal cruise (with English headset commentary) from downtown through to the impressive imperial district of Neustadt. Afterwards, we have lunch and afternoon at leisure to explore. With plenty to see and do, stroll around the old town of La Petite France with medieval houses and cobbled streets and the Gothic Cathedrale Notre-Dame. For a snapshot of Alsatian life visit one of the fascinating museums. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home. glass blowing and handicrafts that take place there.
