Mountains of Fun on Lake & Land Scenic Sarnen is the base for this tour, and the town’s gorgeous mountain and lake scenery is just a taste of things to come. We enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Lake Lucerne, a scenic rail journey to Interlaken, where we can enjoy mountain top views courtesy of the Harder-Kulm funicular, and a cable car ride to the summit of Mount Titlis for some glacier adventures. A visit to the open-air Ballenberg Swiss Museum completes this stunning tour. PACKAGED ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Lucerne This morning we head to the picturesque shores of Lake Lucerne to explore the city’s medieval charm, including the iconic Chapel Bridge and the art that lines this covered wooden structure. We can also admire Hofkirche Church and its pair of Gothic towers, the 17th century baroque church, and the distinctive sculpture of a mortally wounded lion carved into rock, known as the Lion Monument. After time for lunch, we take to the water for a scenic 1 hour circular cruise of Lake Lucerne (route details to be confirmed). We enjoy fabulous lake views and glimpses of the delightful town and surrounding mountains. Day 3 Sarnen Driver’s Day Off We enjoy today at leisure in our host town, Sarnen. We can make the most of our hotel’s spa facilities, including a relaxation room, sauna and steam bath, or step out to bask in our stunning lake and mountain surrounds. If yesterday’s lake cruise leaves us wanting more, we can choose to take a short 15 minute stroll from the hotel to embark on a 40 minute circular cruise of tranquil Lake Sarnen. Day 4 Interlaken & Ballenberg Swiss Museum We begin our day with a scenic 90 minute rail journey from Sarnen to Interlaken , enjoying the views as we cross the Brünig Pass, which connects the Bernese Oberland with central Switzerland. Once in Interlaken we have free time to explore this spectacular town surrounded by the calm waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. We can choose to take the Harder-Kulm funicular to the top of the mountain and revel in our surrounds from the viewing platform, 1,322 metres above sea level. After time for lunch, we get a taste of rural life at the open-air Ballenberg Swiss Museum , which has more than 100 traditional, centuries-old buildings from all over Switzerland to peruse, as well as gardens, fields, farmyard animals and demonstrations of local crafts. Day 5 Mount Titlis Imposing Mount Titlis, which stands a whopping 3,238 metres above sea level, is our destination today. Our return cable car takes us from Engelberg to Titlis where we spend the day exploring all this summit has to offer. Here, options include the Titlis Cliff Walk suspension bridge, dangling 500 metres off the ground, enjoying a refreshment whilst admiring the breathtaking views all around, or perhaps discovering the 5,000 year old ice in the Glacier Cave. Easily accessed through the Titlis Mountain Station, the cave is a true wonder, bathed in a cool pale blue light, where our breath appears as tiny white clouds! We brave the frosty -1.5˚C temperature inside the cave as we follow the 150 metre walkway, which descends 10 metres below the surface of the glacier. Day 6 Departure After breakfast, we begin our journey home.

Located right in the centre of the small town of Sarnen, between Lake Lucerne and Meiringen, the Krone Hotel is ideally placed for excursions whilst also being good for a driver’s day off.
