Michael compared creating the artwork for Bronx Composition to sampling music in hip hop. He explained, “the colors come from a photo of the kids at Hip Hop By Design’s first Architecture Camp in the Bronx, pulled the way a DJ pulls records from a crate. I treated those colors like samples, stretching the pixels the same way a DJ stretches a break beat. The result is a stripe that feels like a loop created through selection, manipulation, and the art of the remix”
