Our initiatives and processes set forth our steps and methods to meet our sustainability goals. We have developed stringent and comprehensive Sustainability Guidelines, High Performance Design and Construction Guidelines, an Occupational Health and Safety Policy, and a Vendor Code of Conduct to ensure that members of our supply chain, from service providers to purchased goods, are held to the highest standards of ethics and sustainability performance. To ensure that our sustainability policies are understood and successfully executed across the portfolio, we educate and engage our property managers, employees, service providers, and tenants. In 2023, we updated our Sustainability Guidelines, policies, and procedures to reflect our ESRT 2.0 decarbonization initiatives. These updates reflect our advancement toward our Net Zero emissions target and include specific guidelines for our multifamily properties. Our Vendor Code of Conduct was updated to improve supplier emissions disclosure through CDP’s Supply Chain Program, enhance DEI with MWVDBE verification and tracking software, and further report on global ethics and supply chain alignment. ESRT integrates our sustainability criteria into the due diligence and underwriting process through property condition assessments, phase 1 environmental site assessments, and other custom sustainability evaluations such as alignment with or opportunities to retrofit to meet our 2.0 sustainability objectives. ESRT has developed a Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Policy and Climate Change Risk Assessment Checklist to be completed during the due diligence process for all potential new acquisitions. ESRT also uses a third- party risk assessment platform, Risk Factor, that constructs custom-built models to calculate property-level climate risk statistics, which include extreme heat, wildfire, flooding, air quality, and wind risk. We implement our program of decarbonization measures, the highest standards of IEQ for our tenants, water safety and conservation, and diversion of waste from landfill on completed acquisitions.
